Will we see a boon in recruiting for 2017? Seems the timing is right for a nice uptick, 10-0 is an eye opener for recruits, We have a beautiful state of the art football facility that can help sell recruits, I know we have had some really nice seasons in the past, I am just wondering if the current success with the addition of the facilities will help get us a bit of an influx of talent. Just seems the timing is right to really try to sell the program and the new assets.

I don't see how any of that can hurt. Coaches just need to set the bar higher.

We had a decent season about a decade ago, went after top talent. Got a few, they were the ones that MI and OSU did not want. Lots of problems and head cases. Plus, lots of near misses that had us going even deeper than usual for 2 star guys. It showed on the field a few years later.

That is what it can hurt.

Wisconsin had the same issues after a good run. After Iowa's 3 year run in 02-04, the 05 freshman class won the Orange Bowl in 09. Iowa can do well with a bunch of high 3 stars (5.8, 5.9), and just a couple difference makers on both sides of the ball - preferably at QB and DL.

Again, We have some assets we didn't have back then, Should we just give up and not attempt at all to go head to head with some of the big boys for players, I just feel the timing is perfect to go after some elite talent, Especially at the skill positions.

There's good talent instate for '17. That should help, we need to add Coons, Wirfs maybe Kallenberger, plus there are others. We are off to a good start. We are in good shape with Epenesa, who would be a huge get. We also need to finish the '16 class. We possibly lead for Matt Farniok and we need to find room for Shaun Beyer.

If Beathard has proven anything this year it is how valuable a true leader at QB is. I look at our roster and our QB recruit and do not see any one like CJ in the wings. Hope I am wrong.

You are probably right about qb. Nate Stanley has a great arm so at least he has that. In'17 we need another dynamic playmaker at qb, no doubt but so does everyone else. I really like Devon Moore's potential.

Some of those 4-5 "busts" were injury issues.
We had a number of recuits on campus this weekend that should have gotten a very positive experience with the wrestling meet, and the bb and fb games. I'd love to see us be able to get a few higher level recuits in the program. A big reason for building the facilities is to make us more attractive to recuits.

Iowa hast lost some home grown talent the past couple years. Hopefully that ends and the states best players stay home and are Hawks. Illinois,Minnesota and Missouri coaches are being replaced. There is enough talent in those border states to fill a roster.

Just FYI, 5.8 and 5.9 would be 4 stars. 5.7 is highest 3 star
