Every disgusting thing that’s happened in the UI dorms

There's a reason they call it Dirty Burge

After a long day of studying and good-behavior, you can always count on the night to add a little excitement into your life.

Now we can’t truly know for sure if college students have acted the same since the beginning of time, but thankfully now we have social media and have managed to capture these less than flawless moments.

BURGE
Being the most recognized dorm on campus, “Dirty Burge” holds itself to a whole new standard. Burge is often credited for it’s wonderful sense of community.

Students living here take pride in getting to know their floor-mates, and what better way to do this than having everyone’s door label in your room?

They say practice makes perfect after all!

Besides mastering the skill of knowing all their neighbor’s names, these kids also love to do activities together like throwing fiestas.

Of course we all know how tricky that college budget can be – so S/O to the 1200’s for having the creative idea of using toilet paper instead of streamers.

Whatever they paid the Burge janitorial crew was not enough. The men's bathroom and showers looked like a warzone every Saturday & Sunday morning.

My brother spent two years on the top floor of the west tower in the Quad. It was a corner room and had to have been one of the biggest two person rooms on campus. It was almost twice the size of my rooms in Rienow. He and the guys on his "floor" used to take the old janky elevator which I thought was ridiculous since I was an 11th floor resident of Rienow where you absolutely get chewed out if you take the elevator to any floor below 5 on any non-moving day. But I guess the 3rd floor was the top floor in Quad, so who was going to complain?
I lived in the room right off the elevator. It was originally a triple but was only used as a double so it was huge.

Another 9th floor Slater guy here. 1989
Wine’em, Dine’em, Slater9’em...2008

My room was right next to the stairs, elevator, and common room. Made for a lot of sleepless nights but the free WiFi from the common room was a nice benefit.

ISU Helser Hall, Norman House
Never lived in the dorms, but had secks w a girlfriend in Tappan House Barton Hall. Two girls peeping Tom’ed us on their way down the fire escape and made comments...”did you see that?” She wasn’t too excited to have the whole house know to say the least.

Transferred into Iowa, but my 1st year Mayflower top floor and then next year was RA on a Currier co-ed floor.

@NMSU.....Garcia Hall, #107
Every room opened into an open patio setting...every two rooms shared a Bathroom..it was new and really quite nice...mess was at the student union, about a block and a half away...The golf course was about a mile away up a gravel road.
This was 53 years ago!

2243 Quadrangle 1990 to 1993
Vaulted ceiling, air conditioner, a room built for 4 that only housed 2...
yeah, I could handle the Cambus or Ho Chi Minh trail to the East side...

We painted the hallway my junior year (92-93) need to find those old photos...Kenyon Murray painting the Iowa basketball logo on his wall while wearing his McDonald's All Star Game jersey was very amusing...

Hillcrest N245. 2 full couches. A recliner. A rocker. A full side fridge. Guys across the hallway had the roof of the lounge below them out their window. Kept a charcoal grill out there. We hung a “Cyclones Eat Moist Butthole” sign off that roof the week of the ISUcks game. I wish all 4 of my sons could enjoy a year in N245.

Currier N221 & N4something. Very tame compared to Slater, Reno, and Burge.

You arrived too late it appears. I lived in Currier 4th North (Fornicators) from 1981 - 1983. The only time it was tame on our floor was when everyone was passed out or when 3rd North RA (Mr. Banach) came storming up looking for the source of all the noise. We'd let him vent then crank the stereos back up when he left.

And @artradley, it would have been impossible for you to live in Currier above the 4th floor unless you built your own tower on top of the 4th floor roof.

I was on the first floor. The room number was 8N or N8.

The bathroom across the hall from me was too nasty to bear on Sunday mornings - there were keggers in every hallway on weekends, and everybody leaving the building would use the bathroom on the first floor.

I hated walking to Burge from Currier for dinner. Currier needed its own dining hall. Burge was a shithole and the cafeteria was equally as bad. Apparently now its much better with grill station with made to order food, sushi, extensive salad bar, made to order pasta and so on.

When I lived there Currier had its own dining hall (a pretty nice one at that), but it was closed on the weekends and we had to go to Burge for meals.

Yes! I was waiting for this one. Indelible.

University of South Dakota - Julian Hall 1st floor. We were so out of control my sophomore year the Campus Police put three RA's on first floor the next year. Kegs, parties, the guys at the end of the floor you never saw leave their room but could smell the stench of pot rolling down the hall from their end. Puke all over the hallways and bathrooms.

Ahh, good times.

Hillcrest- You will never find a more retched hive of scum and villainy.

I'm 44. How do you guys remember your dorm room number? Fudge, maybe I have dementia

I remember both. Burge 4431. Hillcrest C126.

Currier. Third floor, facing the president's house, right about center of hallway. Fondest memory is taking showers with my girlfriend and this dude Monty would come in and shower and sing like goddamn Pavarotti. A few times we ğcked while he sang feeling completely secure that we need not worry about our own noisemaking. Good times.

It must not have been all floors. I "dated" a girl for a couple weeks from Daum and there's no way she was an honor student. Well, unless they gave out honors for...oh never mind, I don't kiss and tell.

Bastard ;)

2005 Mayflower 3AB. Sophomore year I moved to the 2nd floor right off the stairs. My buddy was supposed to be my roommate but he got kicked out for low grades. Ended up with another random for a roommate. But he was cool, and dropped out at semester so I had the whole room to myself.

Last couple years lived in new apt building on Burlington. Good times.
