I do believe we need to be more proactive and find ways to assist Central American countries improve conditions at home so fewer people feel they have no choice to come here for better lives.

I think the statement was greatly overblown and I highly doubt it was the catalyst republicans want to make it out to be.
I’m admittedly biased however. I’ve stated that I want to overhaul the immigration system and make it more welcoming for legal immigration so that they don’t think they have to do so by any means necessary.
Republicans seem to want to reduce total immigration numbers - legal or otherwise to near-zero.
I would say his words were probably picked up by a lot more people than you think, including cartels. I don't think near zero, but 250k to 500K should be max. Highly vetted, on the Mexican side of the border, with the actual border patrolled by a or several branches of the US Military who get transferred from a base or two that we close overseas.

if people are going through our immigration process, they should be waiting on US territory. You want to build better facilities to handle the intake - I’m in favor of that, as well as increased resources to do that vetting - it shouldn’t take as long as it does (years).

BTW the Dems gave Trump a deal of a bunch of wall funding for the people who came here as minors to be able to stay here. He originally agreed then he was talked out of it.
If you guys would learn to compromise on a few things you could have had a freaking wall and more border patrol agents and having the points of entry shut down when overwhelmed.
The border is a problem created by the RIGHT. Because every time a compromise solution is negotiated on the border, the Republicans drop out of it because they didn't get every single thing they wanted.
This was a total waste of time by the GOP House. Even if the Senate convicts, which they won't, Biden will just appoint another puppet to leave the border open for as long as politically feasible.
It is higher that the current legal limit, but it's less than what is coming in, and we need labor too. We simply need the safest people who are truly coming here to work. I disagree about the location.. I feel like Mexico should allow and combine with us to have buildings, even repurposed buidings, on the mexican side. Use those to house, vet, and care for the migrants. However, by agreeing to this, the actual illegal border crossers are fair game for Texas, US military and law enforcement. We need to attack the cartels some how and some way, smoke out who in the US government is on their payroll

It's estimated that only 5% of illegals are working. The catch and release illegals are claiming asylum, and not claiming they are here to work. Can't have it both ways.

They changed the way unemployment is calculated, to inflate Bidens numbers, to remove anyone not capable of work from unemployment. If you are showing up as unemployed right now, you are lazy. You might find yourself needing to work a couple.part times, you might need to find yourself taking a demotion, but there are jobs available. I currently have 3*, ( soon 4, I'm waiting on my badge to get on the schedule for refing)
You misread your the results of your Google search. It is estimated that 4.6% of the workforce are undocumented immigrants--not only 4.6% of undocumented workers are working. The employment rate for all undocumented immigrants, including those not able to work, is about 74%. (Figures from the csmny.org). The employment rate for those able to work is around 94%.

This appears to be incorrect. The BLS last changed its methodology in 1994 to produce the 6 different unemployment rates we see every month.
You are correct, but it's not quite that simple.
While the formulas, etc., didn't change, the method of collection changed in 2010-2011, going from states providing data to BLS for consolidation to a Census / BLS telephone survey.
There was also a change in the Labor Participation Rate numbers to include Long Term unemployed out to 5 years instead of 2 years. This was stated as having no effect on the Unemployment Rate.

With the production of preliminary estimates for March, 2011, responsibility for the production of State and metropolitan area (MSA) estimates will transition from individual State Workforce Agencies to the BLS.
