@Blair do you know anything about the kids that just signed being held to their commit? Has then been any discussion, obviously this is unprecedented.
if I was a parent of a commit I would be less than pleased, but then again RRod wouldn't have gotten in my home to begin with
I doubt they'll be released from LOI. The NCAA always claims you are committing to the school and not the coach. We shall see.
Every year a few schools fire coaches right after signing day and those players can't leave, even if they've lost their position coach.

Even if the kids could leave, we would be behind in the poaching pecking order. You know Harbaugh would be scheduling up some Arizona slumber parties right about now.
Didn't Ole Miss free kids? One of the schools down south did. Thought harbaugh went down and took a QB.
Different circumstances. I believe Ole Miss/NCAA levied a bowl ban and that allowed would be seniors to transfer and play immediately IIRC
Ichawk is correct. The LOI is to the school. Totally up to the school if they want to release them.
Ole Miss released some current athletes to transfer when NCAA penalties were announced. I don't know if high school athletes who had signed LOI were allowed to leave. I think it all went down before the early signing period.
LOI is to the school but kids looks at the system and schemes of the coaching staff to see how they fit. New staff may go to a 3-4 D or a different offense that is either more wide open or run heavy. Might take a few seasons to figure it out but hopefully the NCAA will tweak this early period to account for coaching changes.
Most of the commits have commented on social media already and have shown support for the program. None really too upset. DC Marcell Yates named interim HC.
If I were them and wanted out I would pursue in court. Admin knew RR would be fired and that should matter to recruits.
Actually Heeke (the AD) couldn’t act on firing him until several things were released by someone filing a lawsuit against Rodriguez. They needed to know if they were firing with or without cause. These kids have been aware of things going on with the program for some time... ( almost a year now) they signed on anyways. I fully expect a very good hire very soon, as I stated contingencies are in place otherwise these kids wouldn’t be so supportive.
