Riley Mulvey?

I'm not sure how "The fact that people have to go back 40 years to find an example of it proves the point." proves your point? It was not a prediction. It was an observation that Riley may surprise - or not. We'll see.
Because it's a 40 year sample size with many big men examples to look at and no one else falls into the Less Jepsen scenario.

Honestly your statement is ludicrous, ridiculous, hell insane. Just because many here don't share your hopeful fantasy that out of the freakin blue he becomes a B1G level talent, in NO way makes anyone else "miserable people". The fact that you seem to think that, (at least you keep saying that", just makes people wonder what your issue is. Hell, I hope the kid becomes an All American, but I sure don't see it happening......
Some people try to look at things without emotion and some people can't separate the two.

He’s getting a full ride at a major institution. Maybe he likes that fact?

Maybe he’s got a woman in IC?

Maybe he knows he’s got no future in ball and he’s on a good academic path he’d rather not disrupt by going to a different (smaller) school?
All true. I have been arguing that we have very little idea what is going on with Mulvey, and whether he can contribute this year. It is fair to question why he didn't play last year, if he has been progressing. It is also fair to question why he wasn't advised to play at a smaller school, if he hasn't developed, so we could fill the scholarship slot with a recruit. We will know more in the fall.

He's so improved that Fran is still trying to recruit big men in the portal... that tells me enough right there.

And those who are touting Ryan's "athleticism" are just not good at evaluating athletes.
Playing like a deer in headlights, doesn't mean you don't have athleticism. There was a play (only one, since he has played very little), where he ran down a guy about to shoot a break away layup and blocked the shot. But he has been incredibly passive in most of his other very limited minutes. I wish someone who had a chance to watch him in practice would chime in, but no one seems to know much.

Well, two other centers were mentioned and it was not an exclusive group. You're letting your emotions cloud your opinions. I've never said Riley was the second coming and he may never even play. I don't know. But, it would not surprise me if he makes a leap forward. I love it when young players prove naysayers wrong. We'll see.

Nope, strictly operating on logic.

The 40 years of evidence shows us that players who don't contribute after 3 years almost never contribute after that.

There's one outlier example amoung a large sample size.
