Riley Till

what happened to the other Till thread?
Well, I guess now we know that there must be something to that story, having that thread pulled. IT will be interesting to see if its addressed or not. My guess is Fran we'll do the sargent Schultes on this unless he's pinned down by the media....

He was recovering from eye infection; staff didn't want it to get poked. Weirdest injury I ever heard of was when Till played in high school at Wahlert and missed a game when he was attacked by a dog near his house and had some facial cuts. Doctor didn't want him poked in the face then either.

I wish they would have simply said "Riley is not with the team; he is attending to some personal family matters with his mom in San Fran."

IMO, it is not a good look when your teammates are in Chicago and you are in San Fran with family celebrating Christmas.

Why lie though? It’s pretty clear the team loves Till. If Till was told not to be around the team with an infectious eye disease, what does it really matter if he spends that time with his family? Would the team have played any differently if he was stuck home by himself last Saturday?

We were told Till was not traveling due to illness. That sounds like it was 100% the truth after the facts came out. End of story. I’ll add that I’m sure Till had Fran’s blessing before going to SF.

the whole story just seems odd, that's all. first it was reported he was ill and at home. then, tonight, apparently it was reported by Dolph that he had a contagious eye infection where it was ok to be in a stadium with 70,000 and with family members but not ok to be with your teammates.

i just hope it does not create any chemistry issues

Eye infections and eye injuries clear up very quickly. It is highly likely that it has come and gone.

Fran didn’t want his other players getting infected and told Till to be away from the team. I don’t think anyone really cares about the other 70,000 in that stadium. The family was probably okay risking pink eye to spend some time with Riley. Just my thought. After the facts have come out, it doesn’t sound that strange at all.

As far as chemistry.... Till has given himself to the team for what three years now as a glorified walk on and practice player. I’m not sure selfish and Riley Till belong one the same sentence.

Not sure why this thread keeps on going. Do you think he just left and went out to San Fran without Fran’s approval? I doubt that our 9th man off the bench is going to affect our team chemistry. Like a bunch of cackling hens on here. Chill out.

I guess the family was ok risking Kittle and the 49ers then. Not like they have much going on. If he was healthy enough to be on the 49ers field around NFL players then he was healthy enough to be with his teammates in Chicago.

Yep it’s all a lie and a huge conspiracy. That’s why Fran played Till in the first half today, as punishment. Now let’s hear how he’s created animosity in the locker room.

Then you guys wonder why threads get deleted.

I've never said said anything about the team or how it could affect them. I'm definitely not a fan of a college player taking a game off to go on a vacation with family. Especially a big non conference neutral site game when your team is short handed. I've never had a teammate that would even consider doing something like that. I've had teammates that were bench players that showed up to our game despite having loved ones pass away. This was a fun little vacation to a NFL football game. The whole thing is very bizarre.

I really think you are over reacting.

dude, the question was fine a week ago. He’s playing tonight so there are no issues.

I was previously interested, but it’s a moot point now.

There is obviously more to the story that is none of your business. Do you really think he would be playing tonight if he left town for a vacation mid season?

I'm guessing Fran wasn't expecting a pic of Till on the 49ers field to pop up and become public knowledge. Otherwise Fran would have told the media Till will be attending a 49ers football game with family instead of suiting up with teammates against Cincinnati.

This isn’t the 1950’s. Pretty sure with social media this was going to be seen. Again, doubt Fran was blindsided. But carry on.

I agree. To me scholarship or not I think think it looks bad that at the exact same time his team is playing Cincy in a close game and they say he's injured on TV (true or not) and he's at a NFL game watching his brother in law play football instead. At the very least you think he'd want to watch his teammates and see how they are doing being at the game in person or not. To me it comes across as a selfish move.

I know people saying Fran is fine with it so that's all that matter which maybe true. But in my opinion I doubt not too many college coaches would've allowed that move.

I've got no problem with this,... If Riley's presence is the difference between a win or a loss then we are in trouble anyway....
I may very well be in the minority on this one, and I'm fine with that, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just don't think it has anything to do with whether his presence would decide the outcome or not. Its simply to me that he is part of the team, and they had an important game. Either everyone is all in, or their not, and the not part CAN lead to problems. Do you trust the guys in the trenches with you when the chips are down or not. There may be a game later, due to foul issues or whatever when Riley may need to fill in when a game is on the line.

I don’t think you’re wrong or even in the minority. I just think you’re leaving out the most important details.

Till certainly can help this team and he’s been asked to do so in much bigger games than Cincy.

The pieces of the puzzle are nearly all there. It’s up to each person to put them together and see the final picture. To me, it’s a picture that make some sense. I’ll also say that I would put a lot money on Riley Till wanting to be in Chicago, with his teammates, than watching Kittle in SF.

i think people are talking about team unity, not 1 game.....

I agree on unity too but honestly you never even know for one game it could’ve mattered. Normally I’d say if till is on the bench doesn’t matter one bit at beginning of the year but now Iowa is so short handed this year. A what if scenario. What if Garza and Kriener got in foul trouble first half and we needed him to steal a few minutes. I remember him doing just that and getting a dunk off the baseline at PSU last year giving us a few valuable minutes when cook was out and our bigs picked up some fouls. Again I just find the whole situation odd.

Apparently, Fran and the team seem okay with it. That’s good enough for me.
