Who is going? Where are you tailgating? And where can I meet you in Lala Land?

Getting there on Wednesday. Doing the tourist thing. Pacific highway, Hollywood sign, etc.

Thursday is Santa Anita racetrack day.

Friday is game day.

Saturday is wide open. Thinking about going to watch the Sixers get pounded by the Clippers at the Staples center but I doubt that will happen.

Who's going?

word up, YS!
never been a big fan of meeting HROT folks in real life (just my style in virtual world), but feels like it would be the right time to say hello if anyone is out there.

btw - caveat - there have been some really great folks on here that i probably owe a beer or two. not avoiding those folks, just busy, life, etc...

my 12/31 is wide open. hoping for some beach time and an excellent meal or two. gotta be back to my buddy's house in s. pasadena around 6 or 7, but before that, just looking for some fun....

Me. Parade then game.
Maybe USS Iowa for the party.
Sounds like LA touristy things otherwise, although been recently.

I'm hoping to crash some tailgates outside of the stadium. I'll look for the old fat guy in the cyclone shirt.

does that uss iowa thing sound worth while?

i'd love to do it sometime, but seems to be hard to pack into the trip (4 nights for me).

Very excited for the trip. Flying to Phoenix on Wednesday. I have family there, Driving over to LA on Thursday staying 2 nights then going to the Joshua Tree National Park for a day then back to Phoenix and home. No parade or anything.

Rolling into LA on Tuesday. Haven't been to a hawk fb game in years so we're doing everything. Hawk you
can do. USS Iowa, Hawkeye Huddle, Rose Parade then Game. #stoked

Actually got a ticket and a decent plane flight so I'm heading out to LA with the best man of my wedding and a couple other high school friends. I'll probably regret it come early next week, but I'm stoked right now.

I think Santa Anita would be a GREAT meeting place on New Years eve day. That's where I'll be anyway. The more the merrier. Supposed to be beautiful during the winter meet with a great view of the mountains.

fly in NYE, staying at my cousins which according to google maps is a 30 minute drive(it's LA so doubling that estimate) to the rose bowl from her place. Tailgate, watch game, drink heavily. Can't wait!

I will be there. Not sure about the tailgate yet. Probably doing the USS Iowa NYE. Also staying with family so plan to be with them when not doing anything Hawks-related.

Oh, and I plan to get a little color on the beach.

What's your excuse for not going? Maybe I missed it, but it seems you should have no problem swinging it financially.

Mrs. Bean left yesterday for a art show in NYC yesterday...I will be leaving in the morning to join her. We are flying home on Thursday. Similar thing happened to me last year too. I have put my foot down and blacked out the first weekend in December and the period between Christmas & New Years from here on out - surprisingly she agreed that I could put my foot down regarding this matter.

Smart move for future years, but missing the Rose bowl...might not get another shot at that one. Totally understand though that plans had already been made.

Disappointed in you Bean. This is a potentially one time thing. Could very well be the last time as the whole large bowl system could just be a playoff with minor bowls in 10 years. Sort of like an NCAA tourney/NIT basketball situation.

My Rose Bowl record isn't that impressive though. 0-3

I'll be there with my 6 year old son but I'm not going anywhere near you poors.

i really wanted to bring my 4 and 5 year olds, but i don't think they really would appreciate it for the price it costs for them (yes... poor man's problem).

that being said - i'm hoping for a return trip in the next few years and would like to drive it with the fam. take southern route on the way out and the northern route on the way home. i think the kids are a couple years away from being ready for that drive (maybe kirk's final season???)

Mine just got into sports in the last year and actually took the loss to Michigan state harder than me. I wish he was a few years older but I'm not going to risk missing the chance to watch Iowa in the Rose bowl with him.
