Roselli To Okie

Honestly, I didn't consider what happened to Minnesota in 2015 as a collapse.

125:(2-2) Lizak going 2-2 was much better than expected.
133:4th C. Dardanes ran into a literal buzzsaw in the semis and lost a close match to his biggest matchup nightmare for 3rd/4th.
141:(1-2)N. Dardanes was dealing with an injury(and quite frankly some burn out)
149:DNQ
157:(6th)Ness blew his knee out in the semis and most likely at least matches his 3 seed sans injury.
165:DNQ
174:4th Storley- As the 6 seed in a brutal weight class, 4th was very solid.
184:(0-2)Pfarr-As the 11 seed he obviously somewhat underperformed(11seed=2pts), but he hit Zillmer in the 1st consi round.
197:(4th) Schiller-Took 4th as the 5 seed actually outplacing Cox.
285:(8th)Kroells-Took 8th from the 9 seed slot.

Nick Dardanes is the only implosion I could point to, but his performance at B1G's made is pretty obvious(to me anyway) that he wasn't going to AA. I thought Pfarr was lucky to even get seeded, let alone 11th, and 2 points weren't going to matter anyway.

MSU don't let facts ruin MitchL's narrative.

Clark should be thankful every day that Dardanes, Schopp and Brewer were all on the opposite side. It was Ness's shoulder, not knee(his standing O was such a cool moment). Pfarr was pretty ill. Agreed Nick disappointed but he wasn't the same guy that got his seed. Short and Wanzek never stepped up like they were expected to, and still haven't. We only held a punchers chance.

Eggum has been very hands on, but J still had final say and imagine trying to change his POV. The staff has already changed several of the training methods to modernize. Restructured responsibilities and roles. Eggum is prepared for this opportunity, hopefully the cloud over the program doesn't effect his shot too much.

Thanks grappler6 for the inside info. As far as Ness goes, going off of memory only, I always default to knee when remembering injuries due to personal experiences and watching too much Football!

Dardanes and Schopp were not locks to beat Clark by any means. In the B1G semifinals against Dardanes he was :01 of riding time away from straight up beating Dardanes in regulation, but it went to OT and Dardanes won. Schopp was unimpressive all year until his backside run at NCAAs.

They would have certainly been a tougher road than what was put in front of Clark. Dardanes controlled the matchup in BIG finals. Agreed, Nothing is a guarantee and only talking hypothetical anyway. Not Corys fault the seeding process got it wrong.

I don't think anyone would say that Dardanes or Schopp were distinct favorites over Clark. In fact, I would have picked Clark over both. I just think it worked out that the only real threats to keep him from making the finals were on the other side of the bracket. Also, saying Schopp was unimpressive is a tad disingenuous considering he fought injury nearly all season and was still 19-2 going in, losing to Richards 1-0 and Perry 5-4.

KJ pulled offer when Mantanona wanted to visit Oklahoma.

Flo article

Poor Grappler6! Relegated to a series of excuses to explain the Gopher performance at Nationals. Every team in America has some injuries by that time of the season. What you expect from a senior laden lineup is someone else picks up the slack. Obviously, that didn't happen. The collapse, as I stated, could be rephrased to massive under performance... by coaches and wrestlers.

And we follow that up with the debacle that was the 2015/2016 version of the Gophers. Follow that up with revelations of a drug dealing system where the coach waits until the season is over before he acts, destroys evidence, and has the guilty parties write an essay. Kind of reminds me of being in fifth grade and being caught doing something wrong, and having to write on a blackboard 100x "I will never do that again".

Yep, quite the operation at Minnesota!:p

I stated those "excuses" as reasons why the team only stood a punchers chance going in. There was title hype entering the season but we waited each week for the other five to emerge. It didn't happen. Expectations entering nationals were that of a punchers chance. They swung and missed.

Mitch just throwing shade at MN, yet must be forgetting some of Iowas recent teams full of expectations fading at the big show. Two of the guys u speaking ill of are in the HWC now, so tread lightly.

I envy a day that MN holds the title again with ISU finishing second(or just above IA). Expect snail mail MitchL.

The Gophs have already been passed in the B1G by a couple more teams, so I think you'll be waiting quite some time for a Gopher title. The maroon and gold can't even consistently win the recruiting battles for the top in-State kids when they are the one, and only, D-1 program in the State.

But keep the faith. And good luck staying ahead of SDSU and NDSU.

Regarding the ISU comment... They have their hands full trying to stay ahead of UNI. Iowa fans would just like to see the Iowa/ISU matchups become SOMEWHAT competitive again. Not much fun when the only question is will ISU win 2 or 3 matches.

both you guys are giving me a headache, g6 why do you take the bait?
Stop it! I'm having a blast. I did the same thing with Daddy Meeks for years on another site and with Buf on "the Predicament" using an amazingly similar username.

It's just a way for me to pass time on my off days. And in the off season.

I do apologize to those posters that don't like it or find it amusing.;)

I'd be a bit careful because it might look like you are defending Grappler6. If you want to see the true Grappler, not the one who seems innocent on this forum, go to the Gopher's site and see some of his Iowa bashing!
#WhoHatesIowa, yep, that's our Grappler.

He certainly has the privilege to post here, but take the fake compliments for what they are.

I'd give anything to see a transcript of your dealings with Mr. Meek...lol

It's probably in the archives somewhere on the rivals "high school forum". That was a blast. I was goading him and he just got madder with every post. Kind of similar to Clinton baiting Trump in the debate.

Of course once it became obvious to everyone that Jon's struggles were permanent, it wasn't as much fun.

He was just your typical daddy blowhard who, by now, has even abandoned the ISU forum.

BTW: This is my last post on this topic, I apologize for getting away from the OP!

My in laws are from iowa and huge Iowa football fans. We always talk smack back and forth regarding MN and IA. It is called a rivalry. The Who hates Iowa chant is part of that rivalry. NDSU gave me plenty of ammo and I had to be sure to use it up before the actual MN vs IA game. Sorry for bullying you and the Iowa fan base. Hopefully each of you has a safe space.

Also don't worry I have always had fun with the back and forth with Mitch. For a second it was so much fun I thought I was in the penn State room!
