Rubio Demolishes Trump in Puerto Rico

He has polls that say he did much better. He can't point you to them, so just believe him. They are fabulous. He loves the Hispanics.

There's a lot of Puerto Ricans in Florida. Just sayin'....

I hope he can take Florida. This whole Cruz thing is making me uncomfortable.

I think he will. Trump is fading. Even where he is winning, it is not by as large as the polls predicted. There is an all out advertising assault against Trump in Florida. Plus, he'll look like a buffoon (again) in this week's debate.

There is going to be a brokered convention this year...you will still get Cruz, but he'll have either Rubio, Kasich, or Romney as VP.

This news should be making the Cons crap their pants. Rubes won't be the nominee. Trump will. If he has this amount of trouble getting minority voters against the Republicans, imagine how much trouble Donald will have against Clinton.

If Rubio can somehow win Florida, it's a new ballgame.

Key word is, "somehow." He's currently behind Trump in all the polls and has a huge chance of losing according to all the experts like Nate Silver.

GOP voters have been quite clear this entire election. They don't like Rubio.

I think the bloom is off the rose for Trump. People might have been casting protest votes early on, but people are realizing that this isn't a joke anymore.

Cruz apparently doesn't do well with Latinos, too.
Rubio is clearly the preferred Hispanic in the race.

Showing that at least some Hispanic Republicans - unlike many Anglo Republicans - have some functioning brain cells. Not too many, obviously, or they wouldn't be Republicans.

But how will he do heads up against Hillery? He may be the better of the the 2 Hispanics on the GOP side, but do they really want GOP policies?

Rubio is young and charismatic. Hillary is an old bat with the charisma of a pit viper.

I think if Rubio or Kasich wins their state they can take off in some of the northern, more urban states that are coming up. Cruz right now is in a good position, but it's fools gold for his supporters, with what states are upcoming. Seeing how everything is going for the GOP this year, watch both win their states and then you're back to status quo.

Hispanics don't vote. period. but it doesn't matter: they shall steal the nomination from trump and give it to Romney or jeb bush or somebody, the old brokered contested stolen elction, then it's hills for good

this. then brokered convention. trump will no way get the delegates needed

The GOP establishment AND the MSM have gone pretty much all in to trash Trump - even to the point of ignoring the much scarier Cruz.

It would be astonishing if that combined effort failed to damage Trump. And since part of his glamour is that the establishment can't touch him, this could hurt him very badly.

If I'm Trump, I come up with something to reacquire the focus of attention that makes him look positive in his supporters eyes. But, as he has proved to most of us several times, he's better at that than we are - so we'll just have to wait to find out what he has left in his bag of tricks.

The problem I think he has is that if he comes out with a strong idea or 2 to "make America great again" he risks looking like a big-government liberal. Because, let's face it, most big ideas require government spending.

For example, he could weigh in on high speed rail or going solar. High speed rail could be a winner because, done properly, it evokes that 19th century spirit that united America's coasts and fueled exploration and expansion and prosperity. People could get excited about it if he played it that way.

An article in Politico or somewhere else today about Trump's poor performance against polls in various states. They hypothesize that Trump's supporters typically have made their mind up long before election day and don't change their minds. On the other hand, he does exceptionally poorly on late deciders, who may be part of the "anyone but Trump" crowd.

Yep.

No one is excited about 19th-century transportation technology except greenies. Self-driving cars is the new frontier, not trains.

yes, and this is scary. they want to take our cars away. I'd rather keep 19th century technology as an option

Well, since Puerto Ricans are natural born citizens, they are not like the Hondurans and Mexicans. They can and do vote.
in large blocks of people? I kind of doubt it. I doubt if the Puerto rican vote in florida will outweigh the religious right vote up in the panhandle for instance, maybe, but I doubt it.

I'm sure Rubio will crush the Cuban vote in Miami and Tampa as well.

well, yeah Cubans. but they probably don't vote in large numbers either. I was asking if Puerto Ricans vote in large numbers. besides, voting does not matter anywho. they are saying they are gonna steal it from whomever, trump, cruz, even rubes, steal it. broker it to somebody else. they are out in the open saying this, all over the news

Cubans are VERY politically active in Florida.

There are over 500,000 registered Republicans who are Latino in Florida. 60% of these are either Cuban or Puerto Rican, with 9% being Mexican and the rest from varied other countries. This is a closed primary, so the crossover Democrat vote won't help Trump in this one. I'd say Rubio has a great shot at all 99 delegates, which puts him right back into the thick of things.

Weekend delegates gained:

Cruz 69
Trump 53
Rubio 41

Trump is clearly fading. Cruzio gained over twice as many delegates as Trump over the weekend.

I think a brokered convention is a given (unless Cruz or Rubio catch fire, which I suppose could happen). Trump isn't winning Ohio or Florida.

The only mystery at this point is who the establishment decides to make the nominee. It won't be Trump...we can scratch him right now. Will they go with Cruz, who will likely finish ahead of Rubio, or will they go with their pet pick Rubio? Will they instead completely disregard the primary process and install Mitt, with Rubio or Kasich as VP? Is Jeb still in play?

I'd bet on Paul Ryan before Mitt. However, I don't think it will work that way. It will be Kasich, Cruz, or Rubio and one of the other two will be the veep.

Ha - not bad. They are natural born citizens of the United States.
But they don't pay federal income tax. Is that right?

Sounds unnatural to me.

Given the state of their economy, those who suggest that we'll be better off if we eliminate the income tax might want to have a rethink.
