Considering how close Iowa came to landing Eno Benjamin and Karan Higdon (both in the top 20 in rushing) would our run game be better this year with them as a 1-2 punch? Discuss.

Iowa is 94th in rushing yards per game, right at 140 yards per game. It is the difference between this being a good team and a team that could win the B1G championship. Too bad, because this is the year OSU, MU or OSU can be had.

Discuss, with all due respect, I'll pass. IMHO, such a discussion will evolve to dissing our players & invite troll like posts. For me, those other backs are now irrelevant to today's run game...that's my 2 cents.

Yes and no. Our run game might be slightly better with those guys running the ball but the holes just aren't there. The interior line play has just been average. I also think we aren't running for as many yards lately because Stanley is really starting to find his groove. I expect Stanley to throw for 300+ again tomorrow. He is just really getting comfortable with his recievers and we have the best TE group in college football so we are able to throw pretty effectively. BF just isn't as committed to the run game this year as much as years of the past.

I respectfully disagree with the last statement. Even if Iowa had Eno this season we could not beat Ohio State. I believe OSU is going to play Bama for the title this year and play Bama a lot closer than anyone else will.

Same old Ohio State juggernaut on offense. Their defense is susceptible. Their vaunted DL is not as advertised. Teams can pass on them. Their signature win over TCU doesn't look so great now. Indiana generated 500 yards of offense.

This is the best offense they have had in years. Haskins is going to get an invite to the Heisman trophy presentation to Tua. There run game is great. They have 2 great backs in Weber and Dobbins. There defensive line is still really good and they are missing the best player in all of college football in Bosa for a couple more weeks while they mop on inferior teams. Their secondary is their only weakness and they don't play any QBs good enough to outplay Haskins until they get to the Playoff.

It's going to be frosty tomorrow morning in Indianapolis with a high of only 53. Does that affect the passing game? Winds will be 3-5.

53 is frosty? That’s perfect football weather especially with the sun out and light winds.

I doubt it. Despite Eno's excellent numbers - he couldn't run any better against Michigan State than any other team.

The point being ... the largest part of Iowa's problems running the ball has been attributable to our blocking AND to how opposing teams have defended us. Those factors really aren't as dependent on the RBs you have toting the rock.
