Running errands listening to Cyclone radio broadcast

I acknowledge that Dewey Oxenberger's took the Hawks apart in Ames. They play a real unconventional style of defense that some would call a JUNK defense. We couldn't get it figured out for most of the game and it cost us. However their league has it all figured out and is exploiting it. Dewey has no other tricks in his magic sack. Some of these games they Cyclones are not even competitive. But they love their new coach. I wonder how many of their glorious fans would still like to have Hoyburger back?

His 5-46 conference record in the Big Ten might not be a good selling point. 😏

I call it the hack, grab and push defense. When these actions are called as fouls the clowns are going to struggle. When they aren’t they will probably win.

I don’t see their defense holding up if they make the tourney. In fact any but the top 3 in the Texas Ten will struggle in the tournament if they continue to play defense the way do and fouls are called . It is why you often see WVA have a good season only to make any early exit from the tournament.

But I am sure clown fans will tell us how it really is and what does and doesn’t count.

I think people need to give TJ a chance to develop a roster. He had to scramble to create this current roster with transfers. Losing Foster + Hinson (addition by subtraction perhaps?) wasn't part of the plan, but no sane ISU fan I know is too upset right now. They won 2 games last year - to be 16-8 with a shot (albeit it is fading with each loss) to make the NCAAs. It's crazy to be critical of TJ + his staff.

Yes, they have major issues + flaws on offense. With 7 conference games left (most are winnable), they have time to get things right.

He kicked Foster off the team. He didn't "lose" Foster. As far as I know Foster was never charged with any crime. I wonder what the truth is about his situation?

I stand corrected Hooper. You are right. Poor choice of words on my part.

I heard this theory on a Cyclone podcast. The high post offense they employ is better suited for Foster's skill set. Certainly much better than Condit or Jones. Maybe TJ put that high post action in with Foster in mind? Whatever the case, it's fine with me that TJ dismissed him. I find it odd that no charges have been filed. No news since last summer???

Hinson was able to create his own shot + get to the rim. The players they have are primarily jump shooters (Brockington being a mid range type guy). They really need a guy like a Hinson to get into the lane. Not sure why left the program?

Hunter is struggling. He's a true freshman playing PG, so it's not a huge concern. If he were a Jr or Sr, then it's a different conversation.

Whatever the case, I still feel ok (in spite of their recent struggles) with the season so far. Hope they can get a few more wins + sneak into the NCAA. That may be a play-in game.....which would still be fantastic!

Thing is clown fans spent all fall saying the Iowa offense in football was “boring” and the 10 wins don’t really count because of it. Now of course with the TJ terrible offense for isu basketball we all must give isu time to get it right.

Yep the phrase holds true again “because clown fans say so”.

It will be tough to finish 7-13 when they only play 18 conference games.
My bad, I couldn't remember if they played 18 or 20 games and was too lazy to look it up because it was ISU. I guess it is hard to play 20 conference games against 9 opponents. 7 wins was his mark, so 7-11.

I mean the rest of their schedule is manageable minus the Baylor game. They should start winning some of those 50/50 type games soon, right?

I'm sure it has. The big 12 is BRUTAL this year to be fair but you have to beat tcu and kstate at home.
West Virginia, K-state, Oklahoma and Okie State do not constitute “brutal” . Rest of the league is pretty good. ISU is laying a big turd.

Rutgers went undefeated against the worst imaginable noncon schedule a few years ago, and didn’t even come close to making it.
They on a roll now. Wish we could have won that one. Massive missed opportunity.
