The Knights will be out for revenge when they come to IC. Ron Harper Jr. says Joe Cool couldn't make that final shot if he took it a million more times.
Another player says they are coming to get us after hearing our celebration close to their locker room.

BRING IT ON PUNKS!

Every team will be after us down the stretch. Indiana also will have revenge on it’s mind. IL was embarrassed and won’t forget it. We are tied with WI in the battle for seeding. Maryland has the same number of losses we do in league play. We are in the hunt and will be the hunted too.

Go Hawks. It won’t be easy for us.

I don’t know about that
Don't know about that becuase of last night? Rutgers is a different team at home.. They have a grand total of THREE road wins against big ten opponents since joining the conference (this is their 5th big ten season)

Two years ago @ PSU.
This year @ PSU & @ jNW.

Give the Hawks a little credit here. Road wins in the league this year are very hard to come by regardless of whose playing. The RAC played a large part in how Rutgers played last night. They will not have that advantage @ Carver obviously.

IU will lose by 15 + here, they're a train wreck. Glad RU is bumming, sucks to be them.
Maryland is a scary proposition. Bruno Magli is a stud, reminds me of a young Buck Willams physically.

Yeah it won't be close in Iowa city. 10+ point win by the Hawks

Ole Rutgers there plays pretty good D and they are very long and pretty athletic up and down. Now with that being said the Hawks will be at home so I don’t know about 10+ but I’m gonna go ahead and expect to Hawkeyes to beat Rutgers at Carver.. Rutgers Free throw shooting is HORRIBLE they could have won that game if they didn’t miss dang near ever FT they attempted & their crowd was as hype as any crowd I’ve seen this year.. Iowa escaped Rutgers there.

all true but as I said in post above, Rutgers is not the same team on the road. Last night's game was what I thought would be one of the Hawks tougher Ws to pickup in their final stretch and it looks to be true so far. I just don't see a W @ Carver happening. Meet in the big ten tournament? Now that's a different can of worms but I still believe Iowa wins that game as well if it happens

I really like the Rutgers coach. Their problem is if he gets them going he’ll move on to something better.

Maryland will be a tough game for sure. would certainly be classic Iowa to be Maryland first road win against a ranked oppenent under Turgeon though.

I will be willing to bet, that Iowa wins closer to 10 then 2 at home! The team should be expected to be hunted, they have a lot to prove after last year! The chip on their shoulder should be a boulder! Go HAWKS!

I'm not sure why players feel the need to swear but when Baker made his three you could read his lips, pretty sure I saw M'fer come out at least twice. I haven't seen that from our kids. I was always taught, Losers say very little and Winners even less.

I will add, Rutgers is a scary young team. They are very athletic, good size and physical. A bit more seasoning and they will win the close ones. I really like their coach, class act.

Glad we got out with the win.

Any parallel to Rutgers of past years performance to this year are very naive. This is clearly a different animal this year and a scary opponent, just like Illinois next year as well. They have much more grit, fight and will to win than years past. I’d be very disappointed to not win, but to expect a cake walk would be a mistake.

Pretty emotional after a game like that. But the MSU style thug defense doesn't impress me. Oh, and BTW: How many times does a 3 hit the front rim, hit the backboard, hit the rim again, and then fall into the net? Did Harper have an estimate on those odds?

And how many times does a player plant a blatant elbow in an opponent's nose in open court and not get called for a foul? And how many times does a play like that get reviewed and not get called flagrant? Even the announcers grudgingly had to admit it should have been a flagrant, as would anyone else with a lick of common sense.

And maybe Joe's shot does only go in one time in a million. But it went in last night, and Iowa won, and Rutgers lost. We'll worry about the other 999,999 some other time.

Had Iowa lost on that lucky Rutgers three, I am confident Iowa's players would have given Rutgers credit instead of whining about a lucky shot dropping in with 3 seconds left even though the Hawkeyes had led since the 6-minute mark.

Some programs have class and some don't. Iowa does. Rutgers doesn't. Iowa wins.

Can't wait for Rutgers visit to Iowa City when the Hawkeyes can show those boys the real difference between the two teams. I hope, and expect, that Iowa will run them outta Carver. And good riddance.

You mean like Garza getting T'd up after making a bucket earlier this year? I'm certain that wasnt because he told his defender good job...

What, exactly, did he say? All Garza did was score through contact, turn around and run down the court. How could the official hear anything? And even if he did, if Ts were called every time a player said something, Iowa would have a HUGE advantage over every team they play.

Last night, a Rutgers player, in open court, fired an elbow into Kreiner's nose. No foul. And after review, not even a flagrant. Kreiner was just standing there.

Take your BS somewhere else, pal. They'd probably enjoy it in Ames. I think they even have an entire department for that stuff.

Yeah, our player got a technical for nothing? And how did the refs hear what he said? Maybe because the place was dead because there were hardly any fans in the stands.
If you think the hawk players dont talk trash, you are very naive. They arent as bad as some teams, but dont pretend they are saints.

Yeah, kreiner took an elbow, big deal. It didnt look that malicious to me. But then again, I don't bitch about every little thing either.

OK. You stand there, and I'll hit you in the nose with an elbow, then you can see how malicious it is. Kreiner just had a swollen nose and a big cut, so I guess it wasn't too malicious. After all, he never lost consciousness.

Quit being a sissy. Guy dropped his arm down and happened to catch Ryan on the bridge of the nose. And an inch scrap is a big cut?

Any elbow above the shoulder is supposed to be a flagrant 1 unless it is considered a basketball move. They were 20 feet from the bucket in a dead-ball situation - that should have been called but that reffing crew was really bad.

I saw it clearly Iowa player smashed his face into Johnson’s arm to distract him should have been a foul on Iowa. As my uncle Tony said at his murder trial “I was just standing on the corner cleaning my nails with a switch blade and this guy comes running down the street and runs into my knife - six times”

Fun season but...

Iowa has needed a last second miracle (NW) and a bad coaching decision by Pikiel plus a carnival joke shot to beat two of the weaker teams in the league.

Predicting double digit wins against anyone (although a few probably remain in the bag) seems silly to me.

The truth is that this is a team that can be beaten by any team in the top 50 on any night. Yes, even at CHA. Nobody is scared to play Iowa. Nobody should be.

no he didn't just drop his arm. You can see him find Ryan in the corner of his eye and swung his elbow back there. He tried to make it look honest but it clearly wasn't. Even the announcers who thought there was nothing changed their minds when they saw the replay!!

BS. It was intentional and was designed to try to get a reaction resulting in a possible technical foul and free throws for Rutgers.

IU goes to EL and wins then we go to Bloomington and take care of business. UM can't win at Sandusky St. but throttles Maryland in AA.
No team fears any team in this conference and good teams find a way to win.

Have a nice day.

Finding a way to win and beating teams by double digits are two very different things. Lots of teams fear MSU, Duke, etc. for good reasons. Iowa is not among those teams. Let’s not pretend that we are.

It’s very seldom that I don’t have a good day.

After the close win over NW... no game at CHA is an easy game. Predicting a double digit win is pretty iffy, imo.

That said... I am enjoying the ride.

Iowa has won 4 of 7 home B1G games by 9+ points.

Of their 5 home win conference wins, Northwestern is the only B1G team that Iowa has beaten at home by less than 9.

Ron Harper Jr. says Joe Cool couldn't make that final shot if he took it a million more times.

Is he wrong?

I mean, he turns around and in one motion takes an off balance heave from the corner that GRAZES the top corner side of the back board and goes though the net, like the old Michael Jordan commercial. Are you kidding me?! The kid should have won a million dollars for that circus shot like he was at a carnival.

Harper wasn’t saying his comment maliciously, but just lamenting the unbelievable way RU lost the game. And even the most biased fanatics have to agree that that shot was just Clown Shoes ridiculous.

That said, terrible mistake by Pike not guarding the inbound. Never give the inbounder a clean look on a full court heave. And to McCafferey’s credit, he threw a 3/4 court laser Tom Brady would be proud of.

Really like your team. You guys play basketball the way it was meant to be played, great ball movement, not a lot of hero ball, and weapons from 1 to 5, shooters all over the place.

Looking forward to the rematch at your place. From reading your board, doesn’t seem like there’s too much respect for Rutgers, and I do expect a 10 point loss, but we’re not going to make it easy for you, I promise you that.
