Hey Mike.....I always appreciate the Rutgers fan take on this board every year. You guys are always pretty fair and spot on in my view and I like you winning when it isn't against our beloved Hawks. 👍
Glad you pointed out the great job Fran has done this year, I totally agree, losing Garza and Wieskamp and I would add Fredrick and 7 footer Nunge who would've been playing in the middle and doing a great job now healthy playing at Xavier...to lose not just one fantastic 6'11" player in Garza but to lose TWO great 6'11' players to add in Nunge....are you kidding me? Our fans think these kind of players grow in the corn here in Iowa....get a clue and winning is hard in this league too against teams like Rutgers especially in the RAC....but we are way above most fans expectations so nice job Fran.
And same for you losing your big guy Miles Johnson, dang that hurts but you also seem to be doing OK with Omoruyi...should be a great game. Will you be at the RAC tonight?

Don't tell many of the posters on the board this. They want to run Fran out of town.
That's absurd. With all due respect to them, hard to argue with his recruiting
record over the past several years. Two players from last yr at the next level
and another (Nunge) will get a look for sure
It really is amazing. Fran has gotten Iowa back to where it was with Tom Davis back in the late 90s. If you know anything about the Alford or Lickliter years they were the lowest of lows on and off the court. Fran has run a clean program that was in the abyss and won consistently over the past 9 seasons(minus the 16-17 season) and still isn't good enough for most on this board.

Fran has had Iowa turned around and back to the 90s Tom Davis era for 7 seasons now. Granted we haven't taken the next step but no one has at Iowa since Lute Olson.
Didn't Davis get further than one win in the NCAA tournament? Hell, even Alford won a big ten tournament or two. I love Fran and his exciting offense, but it appears he's peaked and if he can't change the defensive coaching then we'll never get past the plateau we're on.
Fran is a great coach. As annoying as he is when he’s berating the refs, I still really like him as a coach. There aren’t many better out there - he’s a pro. I do hope we make him blow his stack tonight though. 😊
Yeah. Those were really bad years for Iowa basketball watching everyone else dance while Iowa stayed home. I pretty much quit watching college basketball for awhile.
Let's not get carried away, he's a good coach, quality even, but how can you call someone who's never won more than one NCAA tournament great? Solid is the word I'd use. Above average maybe, even entertaining, but not great by any metric.
Please stop with the Jack Nunge love. I had hopes for him at Iowa, and he’s doing ok at Xavier now, but “great” ? Far from it. And fan’s expectations are their own. Maybe you don’t expect Iowa to compete for the dance every year, but I do. Accepting mediocrity, and providing it excuses, is a losers mentality.
Pretty much been competing for he dance every year and after he dug us out of the hole we were in under Lick I’d say he’s competed for a berth in the tournament every year. Most years I think he’s made it too but I completely understand not going higher in the tournament or winning more than one in the B1G tournament too. I like him as a coach for lots of reasons but I’m also frustrated nearly as often. Hopefully this year and next turn out better. The additions next year as good as I think they’ll be won’t match the losses if both Murray’s leave. Kris stays I’ll be optimistic again
the deal is RU was having a very tough time on the road. as in zero road wins this year. That monkey was taken off their back on Saturday when we beat Maryland in College Park.
Playing at the RAC is our sweet spot.
Rutgers is a Jekyll and Hyde team that is frustrating as a fan. We even struggled in our wins early in the season and we are always bad on the road and tough at home. When we are on, we look like we can beat anyone. When we are off, we look really quite bad and struggle to score and the defensive intensity drops significantly
With the experience of guys like Harper Geo Caleb and Mulcahy I'd like to see more consistency. Geo especially only has big scoring games rarely but is known for making big shots.
Some good battles over the years, but at home with no Garza and Weiskamp this year, Rutgers needs this win.
I worry about Joe T harrasing Geo on offense and Geo's ability to keep Joe out of the lane.
Watch Caleb on defense and his ball denial. He wrecks plays and is in the DPOY conversation.
Harper has historically owned Iowa. We only win when Ron plays well. If Harper guards Murray, that's a potential foul concern. If I was Iowa I would go right at him
