I wonder if they held hands at any point during the interview.Kubiak has been a name in the Iowa OC search for more than a month. Interesting approach by the Saints interviewing them as a pair for a Co-OC position.
Niner fan here. Kubiak and Griese did not interview as Co-OCs. They both interviewed separately for the same OC job. SF would not let Kubiak AND Griese leave and they have blocking power since both are under contract and not interviewing for a head coach opening.
That is only for solo, play-calling coordinator positions. They can still block for "Co-coordinator" positions or the increasingly more common "pass game coordinator" or "run game coordinator". If the Saints tried to hire Griese AND Kubiak as "Co-OCs" the 49ers would have blocking power, hauss.teams can't block people from interviewing for coordinator positions. Ruled changed a few years ago hauss.

Reading comprehension is tough for you. I implied that if they HAD interviewed as Co-coordinators (as the OP originally thought), then SF would have blocking power. Which they would, because "Co-OC" is not a bona fide position. There are five positions that teams cannot block interviews for: HC, OC, DC, STC, and AGM. Coordinator positions cannot be shared and considered bona fide. Additionally, they must be considered the primary play caller. For example, since Shanahan is SF's offensive playcaller, they could be blocked from interviewing Zac Robinson (for example) as their OC because it would essentially be a lateral move (from non-play calling assistant to non-play calling assistant). SF cannot block Kubiak from accepting NO's OC position OR Griese from accepting NO's OC position. They could block Kubiak AND Griese from accepting NO's "Co-OC" position as the OP originally thought that they were interviewing for. If NO really wanted such a move, they would have to file an appeal to the commissioner, who would undoubtedly strike it down, as he has NEVER ruled that a "Co-coordinator" position is considered a bona fide coordinator position. This information was published by NFL Operations in 2020.Nope try again though.
All you have to do is offer a "bona fide" position and you can't block - basically not a lateral move. But I know SF fans are kinda of dumb and don't like to read before they go spouting off.
(Plus you said they didn't interview as CO coordinators, [Niner fan here. Kubiak and Griese did not interview as Co-OCs.] but now you're saying they did. Which is it?)
