Beth and the Athletic dept. Staff have some work to do. Currently after the fall sports tally Iowa Athletics sit at 16th out of 18 B1G schools in the director cup standings.
I think the majority of players are quite frustrated with McCaffery and his decisions and I agree body language reflects those feelings.
Who knows? Maybe Beth has talked to Fran already and impressed upon him that a change is coming. We don't know what is going on behind closed doors.
We can only hope this is true and we will not have to see another year of McCaffery throw it up and hope BBall.

I always wondered if Fran would allow his assistant coaches to get on guys that have severely underperformed or if they felt like they couldn’t do that for obvious reasons. Like take last year. I bet multiple assistant coaches were like, “Maybe we should tell a certain player to stop throwing up off balance running one legged runners that never go in.”
I've noticed Gatens seems more engaged than Fran.
He's the one yelling at them to get back on defense after a make instead of doing their stupid little celebration antics.
The lack of coaching is astounding which leads me to believe that this is it for Fran. You don't "allow" a lot of things I have seen this year without blowing your top or making changes.
You may be right and I may be wrong, but I just don’t see it. I think the recruiting class has bought Fran at least another year.
I have always felt like he babied his players (except when he used to melt down) and thus they play soft. His assistant coaches do not even look involved during the games. They just sit there with a blank look on their faces most of the time.
I hear ya … but fan apathy continues to grow. Fran simply hasn’t shown he can coach defense … Even when we had POY in Garza … and the Murray twins … and Weezy … he still couldn’t get to the Sweet 16… His time has come. There is no magic bullet that will fix Iowa basketball under this staff ….
He prioritized playing his kids over winning basketball games. Same as Kirk and Brian. It’s pretty sad.

What I don't get is why not try something different? Look at some stats, which are readily available. Defense and rebounding are the big problem and Sandfort apparently allowed to shoot as much as possible.
How about moving Freeman to the 4 and playing Mulvey and Braun at the 5 the whole game and tell them to rebound and clog up the middle. I guess Sandfort call play the 3, which is a problem on defense. Dix and Thelwell the other starters. Harding should play 10 minutes max. Traore and Pryce get the other minutes.
Continuing to run the same line up and minutes is clearly not working
