Sanders vs the GOP

I used to think Obama never had a chance because of his name, not his skin color. American white males have now endeared themselves to many black males, especially through the worship of organized sports in this country, that his appearance wasn't that threatening. But, that name, especially Hussein as a middle name, always made me think there was no way that enough Americans would go for it. Americans never seek substance. Our society is proof. I learned I was wrong about that assumption. I'm glad I was. it means our shallow society isn't as shallow as I thought. I don't want to make the same mistake about a 2-female ticket!
You against same sex tickets? Obama would not approve...

I think the only way Biden gets in is if one of two happens:

1. Hillary gets pulled from the race (due to email usage issues).
2. Warren agrees to run as his VP.

Biden isn't going pull many Bernie votes away but he will pull lots of Hillary's. If that happens Bernie walks to the nomination and Biden knows it. If Hills is allowed to stay he needs to be able to clip at least 15% of Bernie's votes and he knows he needs Warren to do it.

The question becomes what will Warren do...Will she run over both Hillary and Sanders (two people I think she respects) to get the #2 chair?

I think that both Bernie and Warren have more to lose than they would gain if they were to be a VP on that ticket.

1) Both of them would lose greater power that they both have in the Senate to affect change than they would as VP to Biden.

2) Biden is not as well regarded by those who've studied how he pushed the bankruptcy bill through for his Delaware corporation contributors as a senator that does things like making it so that students with huge college debt can't get college debt forgiven through bankruptcy, amongst other things. Warren has been quoted in standing against what both Clinton and Biden voted for with the bankruptcy bill.

Warren Slams Democrats (Like Hillary/Biden) For Supporting Bankruptcy Bill

3) I think Warren and Bernie risk losing a lot of populist support if they align with Biden, which in effect would lose a lot of independents that might register as Democrats to try and nominate Bernie.

People try to make a big deal about Warren meeting with Biden. I have a feeling it was more about how to do other things like navigate the "endorsement game" which is probably pretty loaded this time around by money pressures from corporate donors trying to get Democrats to endorse Hillary and not Bernie. Both Warren and Biden said nice things about Bernie not long afterward (without endorsing Bernie then).

Corporate money's big fear is a Bernie/Trump race where they can't use their money to control either candidate (since both of them are about the only candidates that aren't taking outside money which is a big draw from them in both parties too). That is why they are trying to find some other equation to take both of them down. Bernie and Trump have both have also spoken out against TPA/TPP "free trade" bills and fast tracking and H-1B Visas that big money is paying pols in both parties to try and push through too to try and grab more power over us.

How confident could anyone be that Trump wouldn't make a deal if it's sufficiently lucrative?

Good to see that Trump isn't pushing the TPP. I would love to see that be a big part of tomorrow's debate.

I wouldn't trust Trump farther than I could throw him (or his doll that I won in a Dave and Buster's company party 10 years ago), but I think it is important to understand his appeal to many voters is similar (even if they are very different voters otherwise) that Bernie Sanders has. People hate corporate cronyism. They hate it when Republicans (just about all of them in the senate) and most of them in the house along with a sizable number of Democrats in both bodies support corporate cronies over the people's interests with these free trade bills, and they look at both Trump and Bernie as speaking up outside of this money game and more for themselves than the veiled interests of their contributors. We can look at how Obama hasn't prosecuted banksters even to the extent that Reagan's administration prosecuted Savings and Loans fraudsters of his time and many of all political stripes have been very verbal on the net with their hate of the likely corruption that was responsible for that.

I'd like to think that at some point people see that Trump may be a businessman (though he's had too many bankruptcies in my book to be called a "good" businessman), he's not had any real political experience, and jumping in as president I think would be way out of his league with what's needed for that office. I've also got many concerns with his ethics when he panders to some voters too, but that's something that Republican voters need to sort out what their ethics are and how well he aligns with them. But I do think he's a good signpost and voice in that field that hopefully can expose some of the corrupt undercurrents going on in that party, much as many in the Democratic Party are fed up with the corruption tolerating elements of it as well.

My guess is that those moderating the debate will probably be paid by big money to avoid questions on topics such as the TPP if they can. Maybe Trump can insert his opinion on that topic someplace if he's interested in making that race more interesting.
