Mexico is our #1 export market for corn and pork.
Grain markets are tanking today.
Time for Trump to handout more taxpayer cash to farmers like he did last term when he ignited trade war with China,our #1 soybean customer.
Nice band-aid for farmers but we lost a good chunk of that market to Brazil/Argentina permanently as it spurred south American farmers to increase acreage by tearing up rain forest.
Now Mexico will turn to so.america to fill their needs further undermining US farmers markets and no doubt reducing the planet's "lungs" with more rain forest depletion.

The thing is, once tariffs are in place they aren't so simple to just get rid of them because other countries react to them. So it takes a negotiated draw down. However, there are legitimate reasons to be doing this, it's just when you just arbitrarily slap some tariffs down with no plan, what's the goal? Why are we doing this? What is he hoping to gain and why is it worth all of us paying an extra 25% in taxes? With no actual comments from Trump, it just looks like they are trying to raise money to justify the ridiculous tax cuts they are planning. They know that a 25% national sales tax will never fly, so hey, let's make it a "tariff"! People will love that! And MAGA's fall for it, every single time.

We have a $40 billion deficit with Canada and almost all of it is because we buy oil cheaper there than produced here. It's a friggin rounding error and a good thing as we turn that around after refining and sell it back to Canada at a markup. It's about $15 to $30 cheaper per barrel then WBC. Try again with real facts and not bull shit. A trade deficit in and of itself is not a sign of weakness, loss or defeat unless you are a moron.

China started buying soybeans from us again at the same volume as they were prior to the tariffs. In 2020 we exported more soybeans than ever before.
