Tariffs are paid for by the foreigners.... no need to worry about higher costs in America as a result. Trump/Magats have assured us that tariffs are not paid by Americans, so therefore costs will not go up at all.
Don’t make assumptions about my viewpoint. I’m not defending Trump’s tariffs and I don’t even agree with all of them.
I’m pointing out the abject hypocrisy of posters who are raging against Trump’s ‘moronic’ tariffs but have refused for four years to level even the mildest criticism against Biden for not only keeping all of those tariffs in place but also adding more on top of them.

While I generally oppose tariffs, tariffs are good for a number of things, if used properly. What we should be asking is what Trump wants to use them for. I have 2 answers for that:
1. To raise revenues so taxes can be cut for the wealthy.
2. To engage in social engineering (by wielding tariffs to reward or punish people, countries or programs that Trump likes or dislikes, respectively).
#1 is consistent with GOP principles, but #2 is something Rs always say they oppose. We'll see about that.

China is using Mexico. They’re exploiting USMCA to circumvent their 25% tariffs by channeling steel and other goods through Mexico. If Mexico benefits in some way from that then China’s position is probably along the lines of “Well, isn’t that nice for you.”
But China’s motivation is helping China.

That definitely sounds like a boon for Mexicans. And might even be a boon for Americans, too, if our government doesn't pile on the fees before we get to make our purchasing choices.
