With the regular season coming to a close, its worth taking one more look at scholarships. It's pretty clear that Dale Jones is going to graduate along with Peter Jok. That frees up two scholarships which will be taken by Garza and Nunge. Connor McCaffery could walk on (assuming no prep school or baseball draft), but I think it is more likely that a scholarship opens up for him.

I think we see only one transfer (Dailey), which is pure speculation. But I think the guy that isn't getting minutes is always the most likely to transfer. He also didn't redshirt this year so he can sit out a year if he transfers without losing eligibility. Plus, he was a late pick-up so he probably didn't build up the relationship with the coaching staff that some of the other players did. That said, I'm not hoping for a transfer or anything. It just seems the most likely. If no one leaves, then McCaffery just walks on and we have a fierce competition among the guards for minutes.

None of the rest of the players transferring makes much sense:

Iowans (Pemsl, Bohannon, Kriener, Baer) - No way any of them leave.
Cook - A transfer would make no sense.
Uhl - Senior, going on trip to Germany with the team, likely wants to play pro basketball there after he graduates. Doesn't get a ton of mins, but a transfer at this stage makes no sense.
Ellingson - If he was going to transfer, it would have happened. He found his niche on this team. will get more mins with Jok's departure.
Moss - I'm sure he wants more mins, but he is starting and will get them with Jok leaving.
Wagner - Probably would like more mins, but he is starting.
Williams - He's the second most likely departure after Dailey, but I still don't think it is particularly likely. He's still getting minutes this year. He just needs to improve his game (shooting and decision making) if he wants to get more next year.

One scenario I'd add, and frankly I don't want anyone to leave, is that it is hard to keep European players from getting homesick.

I guess I wouldn't be surprised if Uhl finishes school in Germany? Kind of hate to see it if it happens as I'm one who believes his energy and defense is useful at times.

As usual I agree with most of what you say Dan.

I recently saw an interview with Dom where he started he preferred to live in the US even if he ended up playing overseas after he graduates. He wants to live in the US.

Not sure why everyone thinks someone will transfer. With Jok graduation, Daily could see more minutes. Connor has said that he also wants to play baseball, so I expect him to walk-on. Fran can certainly afford paying his way.

Players get a lot of minutes under Fran. He will play all 12 if they are worthy. I think Nunge may red shirt to build up strength.

Walk on I think you missed Rilley Till and I believe Austin As he comes in next year also

Who is starting is only important to fans and Moms....players that get it , do not care.

It's SF Riley Till (redshirted this year as a preferred walk-on from Dubuque Wahlert) and SG Austin Ash (preferred walk-on from Mount Vernon). Incidently, I was at a bar last evening and Riley Till's mother was on TV as the color analyst on the Big Ten Network coverage of the women's BIG tournament. She did the color work for the Iowa women on radio for years.

Uhl didn't play today for whatever reason. I could see him being a grad transfer as his minutes will be non existent next year with Nunge and Garza coming in. Dailey would be my next guess to leave.
