SDSU PBP Thread

You know sometimes when you do really want to do something and you did it half way so that your wife comes along and does it correctly and stops asking you to do it?

Well, a few years ago I did a wrestling eligibility grid. And in my mind, that turned into WrestleStats. Which I was on the other day. It is way better that the crappy job I was doing. I am sure most of you know this already, but it is great for looking up teams and seeing what they have coming.

Back to action.

Paddock at 165 (in the original PBP, I thought it was Meyer)
SDSU tries for a single.
BP is headling up and heavy
Now bearhugs wiht 50/50
BP throws
OOB
This might be fun.

For those who are reading this thinking it is crappier than normal, understand I am doing actual play by play tonight rather than transcription. I am not natural wrestler, so some of the descriptions are what I think a move is called. Also, I have no sound from the bad BTN announcers either, which may or may not be helping. I still don't know why Cooper didnt win. He looked good.

You are doing a great job and really saved me last meet when my daughter read it to me as we were driving. You are better off without the announcers. During the cooper match the girl announcer actually said how Cooper has had a great career in Carver, then during intermission was talking to someone else and said, there were no notes on cooper so she just made ish up. Nice. "Prior to wrestling for Iowa Cooper was actually with the travel production of annie." Little known and totally fictional fact.

Gilman, Sorensen looked good. Cory has a tough time making adjustments on his feet...I do believe he got called for stalling.

I'm sitting at Carver right now and this is the most bored I've ever been for a whole Iowa dual! Hopefully 74, 84, 97 and HWT are better. Ok I'm off my rant.

alex looked to be reversed a couple of times but he kept going and got control and a leg.
refs may talk about it.

if he gave up a RV or ESC, he got it back on the edge.
Bono looks good in shirt and tie and arguing
SDSU still down.

Every time AM tries to return to the mat, I get scared.
He gets it and almost loses SDSU but grabs an ankle and works up the leg.
Now riding from a standing posiiton again and there is the SW on AM.
4-2 still rdiing.

Standing again and finally a trip.
AM has a wrist
Will we see the suicide roll?
nope but a good ride.
Ride out.
Winner
4-2 (maybe even 5-2 with RT).

Sammy Brooks, do you want to wrestle?
Iowa 16-9
Brooks with a single TD
to a wrist lock, suicide roll
backs and pinfall.
SDSU wrestler is astonished.

Brooks had a 5 count and then ref decided to end it.
Apparently, there is no video out there on what Brooks does.
smiley-cool11.gif

Call me crazy but Sammy Stoll is wrestling at 197 (or there was a forfeit).

SDSU guy has a lot of starch.
If i was at CHA, hawkcrazy would be yelling something like, "put this spaz on his back, Sammy!"
Sammy backs out
SW on Sammy.
Restart, sammy agressive
0-0

SDSU looks like a 220 lber
SW on SDSU
It looks like Sammy is wrestling his kid brother.
Sammy applying pressure
Trying to go upper body.
SDSU reaches for a leg and cannot even touch sammy
Too long and big
AF, is there 40 lbs difference?

SDSU backs out SW + 1 for SS
1-0
Horn

Stoll down to start 2nd
Esc for Stoll
2-0
OOb SDSU runs to center.

This guy might be too little for sammy to get a leg on
so sammy tries a bearhug and throws to back. oob
SW on SDSU
3-0
Sam's a bit of a bear.
now the score is 5-0 on the screen.
Better talk to Morie

Refs talk to Morie Adams and all of the sudden raise Stoll's hand.
I am going to assume that SDSU got stalled out or their feelings hurt and decided to stop wrestling.
Weird.
I could use some help on the color announcing, Art.

6 stalls.

Fun fact, Morie Adams was one of my little league baseball coaches. He was a little intense for 9 year old boys. I recall one day he was hitting infield and the 2B missed a grounder. No big deal, right? Well, this kid knew what was coming next. You miss a ground ball at 80% speed, Morie hits the next one at 110% speed. I decided that day it would be for the best to field all the ground balls the first time and not get a second ground ball with *extra*.

It wasn't our best dual.
I thought Cooper looked good until the end.
Paddock was fun to see and I'd like to see more.
Brooks' guy was so confused it was fun.
I have to assume that Ironside is not pleased.
