i thought ryan ward's brother quit the team. Maybe he (Kevin) plays only on special teams. I do not know. Ryan has not been very good or able to live up to the scout ratings from HS. He may have been injured. He is a guard at best, not a tackle. He does not have the resume for a NFL job and may be smart enough to done with his degree and wants to move on. Iowa only seems to hit on average 50% of their recruits in any one year. A great year yields about 14 4 or 5 year guys with some playing time out of a class of 22 or 23. Iowa seems to have about 5 or 6 transfers per year leave the programs. Seldom do the transfers make it at their new schools. Wonder how it is for other programs? Guess that's why Iowa has so many walk-ons.

He most likely did grow up a fan, with a dad who played at Iowa it was probably something he couldn't get around. However, him not getting an offer the first time before he committed to Minnesota may push him in another direction as he probably feels slighted...

Kevin Ward does play on special teams. I know he is ok log and punt coverage. Maybe more.

Anyone watch tape to maybe find a reason we haven't offered? I know you can't teach 6'8 285 but maybe his style just doesn't fit? Just because he's 4 star, doesn't mean he'll be all world everywhere.

Personally, really hoping for Farniok as his tape and demeanor are impressive...
At 6'8 you are probably relegated to OT and OT only. I haven't watched tape but you damn well better be able to move your feet to play OT at Iowa.

Even looking at our current 3 tackles, they are pretty damn athletic for 6'6 humans but still get burned from time to time by edge rushers that are just too quick and athletic.

I have to believe a guy that tall would be a risk if there is question about any part of him.

Just looking at that video posted of him pulling a tire, he looks awfully young there.

But....and this is a disclaimer that obviously a ton can change with a kid.

But, he doesn't strike me as particularly athletic and pretty straight up and down.

Does he have knee issues?

Again, hard to tell much from a short clip like that but just an observation on what I just saw.

its been said many times but worth repeating...if you aren't going to trust KF and his staff as it relates to OL recruiting and evaluations, who are you going to trust? It appears the staff have the sights set on a couple big fish on the OL, if we don't get them it doesn't seem to be KF's character to scramble and offer someone just to fill as spot. Our OL is relatively young at the tackle position...if we don't get the big fish this year, I suspect they are more than willing to wait until next year.
