Seas Are Rising at Fastest Rate in Last 28 Centuries

What exactly happened so that the city off the Egyptian coast that fell below sea level. That seems to have been a pretty significant rise.

How much did humans contribute to that sea rise at that time? how many fossil fuels were burned back then?

And can we blame white people some how?

Sons of bitches. They must have been burning large piles of trash to cause the tides to rise that much. I hate them. I hate them sooooo much. They didn't care about the environment. Damn Pharoahs.

I'm really not trying to be nonchalant about this. The Cape Hatteras lighthouse was moved due to erosion of the soil, but, I'm not sure that's from global warming. But, I know of countless landmarks from Kill Devil Hills, NC to Charleston, SC that are just like they were when I was a child.

Virginia Beach replenishes its beaches every year because of tidal erosion. Doesn't mean global warming, it just means that water moves sand around because it's, you know,……………sand.

they are talking about an inch of rise over a century. we should change our entire socio-economic system of humanity over this possible and unprecedented, (well not unprecented if you really look at the history of the Earth but whatever) sea rise. In short, we're screwed if we don't do what they demand.

Sort of seems like a stick up.

how has the carbon taxes fraud biz going lately? i know i'm late to this gig but can i still get in on this scam somehow?

Al Gore made what $50 million? i aint that greedy.

OK, so no evidence to back up your claims, you want us to trust you on faith?

hmm.. how about another question, are there any possible unforeseen positive effects of global climate change? do scientists ever consider these?

No. I want you to learn to do your OWN research and look up published articles on the topic. Develop your own critical thinking skills.

Nope. They are talking about a 12 inch rise over the PAST century, with an accelerating curve and other evidence implying up to or more than 3x that within the coming century?

Just how poor are your reading comprehension skills?

It's okay.

As was mentioned on the other page, there have been recent findings that have revealed just between the Earth's crust and mantle is a layer of Brawny paper towels...

Actually learn something about a topic they're so blithely rejecting because the wingnut echo chamber, fueled by petrodollars, tells them too, when it's so much easier to just look the other way and pooh-pooh it while remaining willfully ignorant? Are you crazy?!

You are aware the earth has gone through periods of heating and cooling. I have little doubt that man can have an effect on the amount of greenhouse carbon emissions released, however to take full responsibility for climate change is arrogant IMO.

Where have any scientists denied that? They have, in fact USED that information on paleoclimate and the forcings which caused it to predict where we are likely to end up due to human forcings.

And with respect to sea level rise, they are telling us that we may be in for many many meters of sea level rise over the next few thousand years. In a mere 2 or 3 centuries of GHG emissions, we will impact sea levels on a timescale as long as or longer than the records of all civilizations that have ever existed.

And you must surely be aware that this has been discussed over and over again and dealt with over and over again in every thread on this topic. You are aware that all of the scientists studying the issue are aware of this and have taken it into account aren't you.?

I can't take a person named cigaretteman serious who promotes something known to cause cancer yet calls others ignorant.

Cool....now, look up the actual scientific publications (from peer-reviewed journals) that go with your cute little cartoon!
I think his point is that scientists, by their very nature, change their minds a lot. They kinda have to. So, in doing so, with a subject like THE EARTH, it's not always entirely accurate and it's not always (if ever) as bad... or as good... as they predict. They're getting better, however. But, maybe the rate they're improving is not as bad as the rate they claim the Earth is becoming for human habitation.

No. They don't. They follow evidence to make new hypothesis.
To-may-toe, To-mah-toe. The results are prone to change. The cartoon shows what they predicted and it hasn't happened. It's hard to sell the scare when you've cried wolf too many times. Even if it's well-intentioned, it's going to be met with some resistance. That's why I just do all I can, on a personal level, to live green. Wasting your time trying to convince people who are never going to trust what you say is time you could spend being more pro-active off the computer to making it happen.

Reading comprehension ain't your strong point. The cartoon shows STRAW MAN 'predictions' which have mostly come from pundits and media outlets, and few, if any from actual science publications.

Results ARE prone to change, when new evidence comes into play which questions prior hypotheses, theories and other evidence. Only with the present state of the climate, that simply hasn't occurred. The evidence has been consistent, and even Exxon and other oil companies recognized this in the 1980s.

Lucky for us that scientists don't base their scientific opinions on cartoons and op-eds like politicians and scientifically illiterate laypersons do.

Great... insult me. That will get you far, too. Keep spending time online arguing with your intellectual inferiors trying to insult them into changing their mind. Your planet thanks you.

I'd only made the point regarding the 'non-scientific nature' of the snippets 2 or 3 times already in this thread; if that is insulting you, having to point out to you AGAIN that you are being duped by a cartoon, then I guess consider yourself insulted. Otherwise, read what is actually being stated before you run off and repeat the same tired (and incorrect) garbage.
