I've kept a spreadsheet going that's kept track of the Iowa's +/- numbers and updated after each game. I figured tomorrow's March, so now would be a good time to look at the numbers. I'd post the entire spreadsheet, but I don't know how on this site.

Entire Season
Bohannon +214
Fredrick +212
Wieskamp +203
C McCaffery +179
Garza +252

Ke Murray +109
Nunge +109
Toussaint +118
P McCaffery +114

Conference Season
Bohannon +120
Fredrick +102
Wieskamp +103
C McCaffery +92
Garza +138

Ke Murray +36
Nunge +59
Toussaint +11
P McCaffery +23

Honestly a little surprising to me that Toussaint’s conference +/- is that low. I know I know everyone on here loves to be critical of the Joe T, but I think he constantly effects the game positively by making the right passes and is a pest defensively. I’m in no way saying he’s better than Murray or Nunge off the bench, but I thought he might be ahead of P Mac

wow, that stat is so flawed. Garza is the big gun, whoever plays with him rides on his plus. No way CMAC is that high without overlapping Garza. CMAC's only claim to fame is feeding the post. Not like his few ppg and low eFG% is the hallmark of a difference maker.

A stat I read on other site was JoeT has very few minutes overlapping the starters...if you aren't playing with Garza and two shooters you are going to have low plus minus.

It'd be interesting to see which lineups gave us the best +/-

Go here: https://evanmiya.com/

Go to Team Breakdown Total, adjust to 40 lineup possessions. it gives you lineups rated by adj def, adj off, and total; Todays game is not included. You can find some really interesting stats on the site. The overall player efficiency metric and team chemistry are interesting.

#1 Lineup: Jbo, Fredrick, Joe W, Murray, Garza -- 46.2 Adjusted Team Efficiency Margin
#2 Lineup: Touisant, Fredirck, Pmac, KM and Garza -- 30.1 Adjusted Team Efficiency Margin

Starting Lineup ranks 4th -- 17.8 Adj Efficiency

Thanks! I wonder how this one dude is tracking all of this. Blows my mind.

Thanks... I think most on here agree that Lineup #1 is what we want to see a lot more of.

It is flawed without context to be sure. I agree that Connor's effective FG% is so bad that it really is showing up in how teams defend Iowa. Hopefully Toussaint can keep playing better. I would agree that he needs more minutes with the other top guys (Wieskamp, Frederick, Garza).

I would encourage people to explore the data. The teammate chemistry is interesting, where it shows the net efficiency when different 2-player combinations are on the floor. Iowa's most effective 2-player combination? Garza and Toussaint. The second-most efficient? Frederick and Patrick McCaffery. FYI, 4 of the 5 lowest efficient teammate combinations involve Connor McC and other players.

Any data out there that figures DFG%, Defensive 3pt%, rebounding, steals, etc. comparing our man-to-man and zone?

No but if you look weighted defensive efficiency since we lost to OSU and started playing primarily man we have been in the 90s 5 times, 70s @MSU and 117 in blowout to Mich. No way we lose @Minn if we played M2M. our defensive efficiency that game was a embarrassing 137.

Previous four game stretch (IL, OSU, MSU, IN) where we lost 3/4 and played a lot of zone:

125
126
112
117
