I worked at UIHC all through college and I remember it being recommended, not required. I was pretty far down the totem pole though, so it could have been different with the doctors, nurses, etc.

The only thing I remember being required was a TB shot.

I highly doubt you were required to get a TB vaccine. Maybe tested for it.

I'm required to get an influenza vaccine yearly. COVID boosters are recommended.

Sorry. Yes, I worded that incorrectly. It was just a TB test. I said ‘shot’ because I remember them injecting something under the skin.

The mandates were due to the lethality of Covid. The Covid vaccine does make you less vulnerable and less likely to spread the disease. It is also not mandated any longer but it certainly made sense to do so at the beginning of the pandemic.

Getting a vaccine is not only about protecting the person getting the shot. It's about protecting others as well. Public safety takes precedence in cases like pandemics.
