Was thinking recently about Luka Garza getting his banner up next to Megan’s, because I can’t imagine any criteria she reached that he didn’t. Was hoping there was a home game during all star break to do it, but oh well. Anyway, that led me to think that if the Naismith/Wooden award is the main criteria for the two basketball players, then surely Metcalf & Ironside
Should have banners too, no? And Lee once he’s done. Problem I see is I’m guessing several other Hawks would have won the Hodge if it existed prior to the mid 90s

I like that idea!

Abso-freaking-lutely we should hang those singlets. Carver Hawkeye is wrestling Meca. Hang the singlets of the greats that wrestled under those rafters!

The answer is yes. I would LOVE to see those Penn State banners hanging in Iowa.

Just kidding

Yes. Hodge winners should absolutely have banners in Carver. Lee should also have a banner for Sullivan Award. And all Olympic Gold Medalists and World Champs should also have banners.

Which older Hawks probably would have won the Hodge had it existed when they wrestled?

The first was in 1995, so you've got 20 years worth of great Hawks to go thru (somewhat modern era timeframe after Gable's arrival). Tough task when you have to compare their seasons with the rest of the country.

Off the top of my head I'd throw in a Tom Brands, Ed Banach, Lincoln Mcllravy, Randy Lewis and Barry Davis for giggles. Of course the rest of the country had some fine Wrestler's too. Believe it or not Iowa State and Oklahoma had some of them....................😏
