My first time seeing it. Was there a concerted effort with the hospital and Iowa for a floor overlooking the stadium? I think that's awesome. I saw it and got choked up (FYI I'm a radtech who works with sick kids from time to time).

As a Purdue fan, the "most hated rival" thing is fun but, I've respected Iowa football for a long time...

Hello, Mr Ripper.

thanks for buying tickets and thanks for stopping by.

Not a good night to ask questions, but I am a big Sterling Hayden fan. From when the hospital's design was announced, it had always been said that it would be possible to see in Kinnick from the upper floor(s). As far as I know, that was intentional.
Not sure who came up with wave idea, but I don't think it started with the hospital. Started hearing the suggestion in early August, and it caught on. Before the first home game, it was officially endorsed. The kids were at the window and fans were told to wave at the end of the quarter, most already knew they were supposed to.

The idea started on social media and went from there. The intent was to have those top floor seats available to watch games for sick kids and their families. It's a cool tradition.

Neat idea that started organically but has devolved into self-aware “Iowa nice” milked by ESPN/ABC at the expense of the families who just want one goddamn day to enjoy something nice and maybe forget why it is they’re there in the first place.

No outrage at all, just calling a spade a spade. You could actually watch the families get more annoyed with all the cameras and dumbass reporters in their face as the season went on.

Do you work at the hospital or something? Not trying to be a prick - just curious.

If they're annoyed I agree that sucks. Generally I would think the kids love the attention and it must be incredibly good for the hospital (which is a wonderful place).

No I don’t. You don’t have to be all that perceptive to tell it was exploited by the end of the year. The unexpected cut to the windows after one of our big plays during the OSU game - when it looked like most of the kids could not have cared less - was pretty telling to me.
