Sibley Crystal Ball

Hopefully Iowa would take Sibley over Foster... or both

Iowa would definitely take both, but with the commitments of the Murray twins, it's extremely unlikely Sibley will be a Hawkeye. Iowa has filled its needs on the wing. Obviously Fran hasn't taken the offer off the table, or Sibley would have removed the Hawks from contention. But I think he was leaning Georgetown anyway, and might still be keeping an eye out for other offers, too.

Maybe, but I doubt that Sibley would be intimidated by competing for playing time against either of the Murray’s. He is also pretty certainly a 4, whereas they could go 3 or stretch 4, so there may not end up being that much overlap in competition for playing time down the road. Then, Fran could end up turning Foster into a 5 to where there isn’t a whole lot of competition between any of the 4 for playing time. It will also be interesting to see if a redshirt is on the table for either of the Murray’s given how old they already are... probably not.

Regardless, I tend to believe that Iowa is very much still in play for Sibley... definitely not enough to say that I would expect a commitment, but that it’s either Iowa or Georgetown

I hope you're right. If Sibley and Foster round out the class, that would be incredible.

Not sure if I agree that Sibley is definitely a 4 or that Foster is destined for the 5. For instance, a Garza Foster Sibley front line could be very productive. Agree that Sibley’s comments about Iowa seem the most positive out of his 3 finalists. But if he’s wanting to commit after the early signing period (November 23-25), doesn’t that mean a letter of intent wouldn’t be signed until the spring?

Fran has said many times that he prefers to play positionless basketball. I don’t think it does justice to think of these kids as a 1 or 2 etc. rather what skills does he need on the floor at any particular moment.

You could be right about Sibley - I’m probably not familiar enough with his game to make a statement like the one I did. As far as Foster, my point was that he has the versatility to play where Iowa needs him (whether that be the 4 or 5)
