Most friendly wagers over sporting events between cities involve food and are paid off quietly, but Six Flags St. Louis is paying for the result of the National League Division Series in a very public way — temporarily naming one of its thrill rides after the Chicago Cubs.

American Thunder, a wooden roller coaster at the Eureka, Mo., theme park, has been dubbed "Cubs Thunder" for the duration of Fright Fest after the Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday to take the NLDS three games to one.

"Added another scary site to Fright Fest to make good on a bet (with) Great America," read a post on Six Flags St Louis' Twitter account, complete with photographic evidence of the payoff.

According to Great America spokeswoman Katy Enrique, counterparts at the two parks arrived upon a wager after fate decreed the first postseason matchup between the Cubs and Cardinals. If the Cardinals won, Great America would rename its Raging Bull coaster to "Raging Cardinals" during Fright Fest, along with shipping Chicago-style deep-dish pizza and Old Style beer down Interstate 55.

Along with the American Thunder/Cubs Thunder switch, a Cubs victory would see Maull's BBQ sauce with pork steaks and St. Louis toasted ravioli coming north. Apparently feeling confident that the Cardinals would advance to a fifth consecutive appearance in the National League Championship Series, the Six Flags St. Louis marquee featured a taunt as the Division Series got underway on Oct. 9: "No worries, it's just the Cubs."

With the result now in the record books and the temporary name change in place, Enrique reported Thursday that the pork steaks and ravioli are said to be en route.

The mayors of Chicago and New York City are Democrat
liberals who have declined to bet on the Cubs/Mets
NL Championship series. Both cities are broke and
there is no miscellaneous fund this year.

Bottom Line; Chicago could wager their Al Capone
vault for New York's Jimmy Hoffa's casket.
