Sixty-eight predictions that are sure to come true (unless they don't)

Small blurb about Iowa in this Yahoo article:

4. Freshmen ranked outside the top 40 who will have the biggest impact this season: Maryland’s Anthony Cowan and Iowa’s Tyler Cook.

Hopefully we're not putting too many expectations on him as he is still a true freshman, but nice to see others outside the program recognize what type of impact he can potentially have for this team.

I've got a few wild predictions.

We won't have a scholarship senior on the team next season. Why?

Jones will choose to play somewhere else, even though he won't have to. It will be a playing time issue and the last go 'round means he'll be looking to play, not watch.
It's hard to keep European players on a team for four years. Something tells me Uhl will find a way to get his degree in three and head back home.

On top of that.

We will lose another guy due to playing time issues. For Hawkeye fans, this will seem like some mass exodus though I remind that just last season Ohio State saw four freshmen transfer after/before one season of ball. The guys we WON'T lose, for sure:

Cook, Wagner, Pemsl, Kriener, Baer, Williams, Bohannon.

If you are keeping score that means I'm looking at Moss, Ellingson and Daily. Just from a competition standpoint something has to give.

We'll end up with four spots open, three of those taken by Nunge, McCaffery and Garza. We'll bank the last one for Wieskamp, and be looking to add one more guy counting on a transfer after 2017/18. (Green! Come to Iowa!!! We'll hire your Dad if we have an opening.)

Normally I don't talk transfers. And these are WILD predictions, don't take 'em as expectations or anything "inside" info wise. Just some gut feelings.

Just like my gut feeling that the 2019 class is going to be a fantastic recruiting year.

As good a guess Dan as any and while it most likely won't work out exactly as you predict.( I'm certainly hopeful all three of Dailey, Moss and Ellingson), stay Hawkeyes and contribute mightily. Playing time can be and in the case of these three will be something that could easily cause one or more even to look elsewhere to play. It will all play out in time but it is still IMO better to have too much than too little. I'm very excited to watch this team and see which players raise their games when the spotlight is on. Which starts tomorrow night. Now they all count and the pressure ramps up

After hearing about Jones' knee-swelling issues, I'm beginning to think you're right about him being done here after the year. For Uhl, it sort of depends on how he progresses this year. If he's not a top 3-4 contributor by the end of this season, you could be right about him leaving. Moss, Ellingson, Dailey... there are arguments against all leaving. Moss and BE have already redshirted so they'd have the most to lose. Dailey I think has the most upside all-around as a player of the 3. If Dailey RSs, BE and Moss fight it out for backup SG and loser is most likely to transfer. If Dailey RSs, it's because Fran convinces him he needs to get stronger to compete. Dailey transferring could occur if Fran can't play him and Dailey won't RS, but I certainly hope not.

The last 2 years, despite the letdown last year, Iowa has exceeded expectations. If that continues to some extent, I agree that 2019 could be a big recruiting year.
