Skyler St John to ISU

Dan Kelly was released to UNI and Zemua Baptista was released to Nebraska. Jake Allar, Ethan Smith, and Jarod Verkleeren were all let out of their NLI.
Cyler Sanderson and Andrew Long were released to PSU. Matt Brown was also allow to transfer, but not sure the release required since he was on a mission trip.

Only one I can think that was affected was Tyler Clark to Iowa 8-9 years ago. Some have not been allowed free release to teams in conference or on schedule, but that isn't that uncommon.

Kelly wasn't released. He requested to be released and was told he would be released and then was not. He was not eligible and had to sit out a year as a result. Good luck to Skylar.

Nice try

Did not know that. I believe it was a mid season transfer. Was the release not granted for a full year or just the rest of the season?

So in 10 years, 2 guys? Probably is more, but not common practice for Iowa State.
Dan Kelly wasn't starting for UNI anyway last year and probably wasn't getting money from Iowa State, so not sure why you would hold him up

The obvious answer is because Iowa State is filled with low class vindictive administrators.

There are schools who have a history of not granting releases but ISU is not a good example.

The most notable guy that ISU spared was David Taylor. He was let out of his NLI to ISU to follow Cael to PSU. DT talked about it in his flo documentary.

Also released Andrew Long.. enabling PSU to win a national title that year. I wish they wouldn't have done that.

Not at all. Iowa State and Penn State have histories of not allowing releases. Iowa is probably the only school in the country that would do what they did for Mocco.
If I recall correctly - note I said "IF" - Mocco was up front in the recruiting process that if he wanted to leave, they would release him.

Wait...I was told in the Pat Lugo thread that Iowa has a policy of no release to any school in state. How can this be?
