Iowa playing their normal up tempo seems like playing to Indiana's strength. Should Fran be " tall Lick" for a night?

No way. They have to play loose as compared to how they played against Maryland. They were nervous and tentative. Let it fly, have some fun and let the game figure it out.

do what you do best, not what you don't do best.
when Iowa tries to slow things down to burn a bit of clock in many of our wins, we look tentative and end up missing poor shots and letting teams like Illini get run outs and they catch up.
Iowa plays up tempo with good discipline and good decision making. Do what got you here.

If Iowa runs you are playing into IU's wheelhouse. But Fran has been adamant about running and attacking. The keys to the game are IU's turnovers ,Johnson defending Jok and Iowa defending 3's. IU only goes as Yogi goes- if he's selfish like against Penn State that benefits Iowa.

ChiCity said it well. Indiana likes to play street ball. Run and gun. What Iowa should do is what they usually do...use their 3/4 court loose press, trap at the timeline, slow Indiana down, and allow them to turn the ball over.

If Iowa comes in well rested with fresh legs, the Hawkeyes will feast on some Hoosiers. Iowa just needs to do what they do and be who they are. Let Indiana try to handle that. Not likely.

This is the part of the schedule where champions rise above the pressure and pain.

I've no doubt our men and leaders will give a good accounting of themselves.

Iowa just needs to keep doing what we have been doing, mostly play great team defense and continue to move the ball on offense. Our advantage is the consistency of our defense, and our ability to give other teams different looks. We cannot turn the ball over or take bad shots, or IU will score very quickly. This is a statement game for both teams.

The key is stopping INDIANA'S transition opportunities. Buzzwords like "playing fast" don't make a lot of sense unless playing like Press Virginia or VCU's HAVOC.

We still want to attack in transition to generate easy buckets. However, we need to make sure we sprint back and defend.

Didn't realize IU's RPI was 55. They're pretty solidly on the Bubble with the schedule they have left. They may be in desperation mode Thursday.

Control Yogi and guard the 3's. Try to slow their offense, but don't change your offensive gameplan.

I like the idea of "play our game and see what they got" basketball. If we handle... or even play with... them, we prove our first place is real. If we don't... adjust for the rematch in Iowa City. Iowa is a solid 19-4 and 10-1. The Hawkeyes shouldn't be the ones to panic and change personality. I sat close to the court today. This is a team with focus, intensity and chemistry. Surf's up. Let's ride this wave.

Need to get into them defensively right away. If they get going and the shots start falling we got trouble. If we play good defense and just do our thing on offense I like our chances are lot.

Indiana is turnover prone. in their loss to PSU they had 15 TO
vs Michigan they won because Michigan didn't score the last 10 minutes of the 1st half and 1st 2 minutes of the 2nd half. force the pressure and Indiana is TO prone.

Iowa is very good at being uptempo and smart, No need to change that approach, They seem to have a good grasp on knowing what is a good shot in transition vs just jacking up shots. No need to change the approach vs Indiana.

In think we play the normal rotations. We are Iowa. IU needs to elevate their overall game, as they are about to face an elite level defense like they have yet to. We'll score. We'll also defend. Don't you think?

Lot's of good thought in this thread. Cool to hear Ringo's post view being court side at today's game. This team seems focused, intense with lots of chemistry on the Telly too....and yes, do not change their personality. IU needs to worry about Iowa's wheel house first.

I've been saying IU has yet to play an elite BIG defense yet. Well, here we go and really don't know how they'll respond? It certainly will help IU to be playing in their friendly confines with a very raucous IU crowd behind them. They still have to play Iowa twice, @ MSU, PU and Maryland at home but after today, I think the Illini could beat them at State Farm Center just like PSU did yesterday.

IU is not a great team if they have to play possession by possession, and don't get runs with open transition buckets. Move the ball on offense, take good shots, and don't turn it over. They are very tough at home.

I wouldn't mind drawing the officiating crew we had today. They mostly let them play, and don't seem to be influenced that much by the crowd. We have had them several times this year.

Defense triggers this team. When we play great defense, nobody is going to beat us. Nobody.

Keeping Sapp on Yogi is key. If he's able to stay out of foul trouble I like our chances.

Do not slow it down. The players need a Vulcan mind meld like in the OK Corral episode. They can't even entertain the idea of a loss knowing they are the better team. Let the swagger rip.

If Yogi plays selfish it hurts Indiana. What Yogi does isn't really going to matter to Iowa, he can get 40 and it really won't matter. If Iowa does what they normally do they win regardless of how well IU plays.

Indiana can't win a shoot out against Iowa, they can't win a running match against Iowa, they can't win a half court game against Iowa.

For any team to beat Iowa, Iowa has to shoot poorly.

Like everyone else said, no. IU might want to slow down the pace, though, otherwise they'll have to take Bryant off the floor--the man can't move!
