Smith Marsette

This thread is hilarious. Reminds me of the Urban Meyer “I know more about mandatory reporting/HIPAA/Title IX than you” threads. More please!

KF said in postgame that initial xray/tests came back negative;

I would certainly trust the opinion of an orthopedic surgeon. There is a WIDE range of musculoskeletal knowledge/skills in the family practice realm.

Arm was not in a sling when game was over. He was in fact walking down the field dancing to the music and moving his good arm. Held the "bad" arm still against his body. I would bet we don't see him against UNI and let it rest and heal and be back for Wisconsin game.

Awww, sorry to hurt your feelings. Just leave the medical diagnosing to the real doctors.

Quite the bedside manner. I bet you're great with patients and hospital staff. So let's hear it, what did HawkeyePride07 say that was so wrong. Don't just tell someone their wrong without stating why they're wrong.

I am not a doctor...and did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...but I am pretty sure there is something wrong with his Phalange.

He, like most MDs, is a dick that is overcompensating in his middle age because he was a sexless dork in high school. No real mystery there.

Wow, lots of critics for a guy who's chastising a soon-to-be-PT for putting out misinformation. Instead of the PT student researching and realizing he's wrong, he puts out the "I'm a doctor of PT in 6 months" arrogant boast. Only to be put in his place with the ultimate comeback "well, my MD and orthopedic training trumps your soon-to-be-doctorate". PT student can't handle being put in his place and cries a bit makes a catty remark and gets shot down. Seems legit to me.

Actually both parties involved sounded like douchers

I'm a doctor too, and in my field, we would say that young Mr. Smith-Marsette has a clear case of hyper -hyphenated ultimate nomenclature - which will persist, in all probability, until his eventual graduation and beyond. This type of cultural indication is most probably the result of nascent feminism or fantasies of gender equality in the domestic and/or marital relationship. He should be fine by Wisconsin.

Oh boy. Didn't really expect this to morph into what it has. If I had known speculating on an injury and explaining the simple difference between a subluxation and dislocation would have turned into this, I probably wouldn't have said anything. I'm open to just moving on. Let's hope ISM is full strength and back on the field soon. I feel like we can all get behind that.

Fair enough:

A subluxation is when the joint is only partially dislocated. It is irrelevant whether it remains subluxated, spontaneously reduces or requires a reduction by the patient or a healthcare provider. A dislocation is when the joint is fully out of joint, again it is irrelevant whether it spontaneously reduces etc. The difference is important (for reasons too involved to discuss here). You'll notice I didn't discuss ISM's specific case as it's always unwise to speculate when you haven't seen or examined the patient. Similarly, it's always unwise for a healthcare provider to put out there or perpetuate the wrong information. Hence my correction.

Agree with HawkeyePride, didn't expect so many people to get their panties in a bunch over something that doesn't involve them. Agree with moving on. If the two of us can and others can't, it'll speak volumes about them.

If there is any issue with that shoulder at all, I say Sit Him this week. We have bigger fish to fry.

Honestly, if it isn’t much better for Wisky, they should sit him once again. That way he will have nearly a full month to get his shoulder right. There are a lot of important games after the bye week, too, and he will be needed.

Thanks for the medical explanation. It's to bad you couldn't have just posted that in your first post rather than a comment where you baited 07 into a response so you could state you were an MD.

Wow, this is how you can get two difference stories from the same situation. Go back and reread the posts.

I'm a doctor too (a PhD) ... however, if you ever see a scalpel in my hand, you should run. It means I'm about to eat you!

Well 07 is obviously wrong and posted like a knowledgeable expert. When it was pointed out he chose to throw down the “doctorate of PT line” and suffered a takedown. Hard lesson.

Since they’ve both made peace, maybe let’s stop beating the dead horse

I'm in agreement that we can stop about it. But honestly, in 07's initial post, he wasn't claiming to be an expert and made no mention of being in the medical field. He was just posting what he thought he knew. If he's so wrong with doing that, then they might as well take these message boards down because there's a lot worse being posted. If anyone takes these message boards as factual information, they're misunderstanding how these boards work.

I can't comment on ISM's injury. But too many people posting in this thread have their head stuck way too far up their ass.

The way he windmilled his shoulder afterwards, I was thinking a separation that immediately popped back in.

If so, he's going to be sore and it could limit his reach for a while.
Having had a separation, I can say that it will happen again and again until the operation.

A dislocation or separation you can still play with. The AC joint can be a mess once it is stressed and separated but you can still play on it and not hurt anything further.

I ended up having a Bankart procedure in high school after mine got so bad I threw it out raising my hand to answer a question in class.

Sucks. On the bright side, have not had problems with it since. Although I only have about 3/4 of my original range of motion. Fair trade-off IMO.

Had an AC separation a few years back and took two months of rugby off. Three years of rugby later and I haven't had a single shoulder problem. I'll consider myself lucky.

That to me sounds like if they can get back on the field by tomorrow they will play. But if not then sounds like they for sure will be ready for Wisconsin.

Same here.

KF usually wont say things like that unless they are in deed pretty close. I could see them sitting them both for UNI and getting that extra rest for WIS. One would think we should be able to win the UNI game without those two.
