I always thought it was nice of Magic to compliment Ronnie so much. I guess it was easy considering he won all four games he played against Lester and Iowa (double digits at East Lansing, and very close games at Iowa). I remember one game in particular, the much anticipated 1979 match up in the Field House, when the refs gave Ronnie two questionable fouls before the first half was barely begun, effectively handing the game to the Spartans..

Didn't Jordan play in the Michigan game? Michigan played Iowa perfectly. Guard the perimeter and let Luka score at will, Iowa wasn't going to beat Michigan without scoring a bunch of 3's and as it turned out they didn't and lost the game despite 44 from Luka.....

We shot 3-15 from the 3 point line against Michigan. Our real problem in that game was letting the Wolverines shoot over 55% for the game and giving them 34 FT attempts.

Wouldn’t it just be so typical Iowan luck that the one time we have a legit shot at a national presence, the season gets cancelled, and players lose a year of eligibility. Garza leaves, and we are back to mediocrity. Watch it happen.

I mean we're Iowa, so........yeah. That's the only way to keep Iowa from having nice things, so that's how fate will role.

Can't the basketball season be pushed back to January or even February if they play conference only? I think we'll see a scenario where some winter sports (or all) start late with an effort to finish in early May. I also wonder if all of this leads to finally moving baseball deeper into the spring/summer.

We have had a couple teams that made surprise appearances in the top 10, but nothing sustained more than a month in the top 10, and I don’t think any of us on here were nearly as high on those team as we are this one from a true National contender perspective. That could be just me though.

I'd agree that this team has more potential but as far as your original post about having a national presence there have been several chances.....we just haven't played our best ball at the end of year. Choked hard in 16. But yes, would be total Iowa luck which makes me think it's getting cancelled
