So tell me about leukemia.....

Just got off the phone with my best friend. He has had it for three years and the oncologist is telling him he has two left. Do you know anything about it? He is only 52. Can that be right?
My business partner got diagnosed with a very rare form about three years ago. Went to Moffitt here in Tampa Bay which is highly regarded for cancer treatment. After a year of chemo and whatnot they told him he was in the clear. Long story short, they fvcked up and misdiagnosed his type of leukemia. He found a specialist in New England that was the guru of his kind of cancer. Went through treatment all over again. This time they got it and he’s been in remission since. It never fully goes away, but as long as it’s in remission you’re good to live a normal life. Do you happen to know what type he has? I’d be happy to pass along this specialist info should it be helpful. I’ll ask my business partner and get back to this thread. FVCK CANCER

My uncle developed it. He had to go to Hopkins for transfusions. Also have a cousin that was in remission. Both eventually passed.

I am not a medical person so I have no idea.

I have a friend right now that they’re treating, in his 50’s.

My internal Doctor BIL had a long run with a “slow burn” as he described it. After many years it “heated up” and he was hit hard. He went thru a bone marrow transplant and had a great month or so.
It came back with a vengeance and he refused a second transplant. His wife was basically pissed, but he told her he knew the path ahead and he would not sacrifice her financial future for a few shitty months of living.
Brave guy. I thought the world of him and miss him muchly.
