The fact much of the non conference schedule was cut out didn't really give us as good guage to see where all the conferences were really at. I think the B1G was overrated but not as much as the national media will say. The national media were the ones that told all of us the B1G was so much better. I think it's more about other conferences weren't really that far behind. Its looking like we're going to get a mixed bag in the Seeet 16 with really only two likely elite teams in Baylor and Gonzaga.

I voted overrated in the poll. Only one of the teams who’s lost wasn’t overrated IMO and that’s Illinois.
Illinois was the only B1G team who lost in regulation and or lost by 10 pts+. PU and OH State both stunk it it but they got beat in competitive games, and MI State also was very competitive but lost to a more talented team.

I think the ACC is the league that is really stunking it up.

Loyola Chicago is rated #9 by Ken Pom.
Not a #9 seed, but #9 seed overall.

Illinois was only a 7-point favorite.
This doesn't feel like a huge upset.

Sparty, Purdue and Ohio State all lost in overtime.

The only real metric was B1G-ACC challenge, which the B1G won 7-5, but the ACC has had a rough season.
Dook didn't make the tournament and Connie blew out North Carolina.

The correct answer is that the 20 conference games set it up for the B1G to have a higher NET ranking.

Obviously it’s not one single thing....overrated? To a degree yes. Bad matchups, to a degree I would say yes. Different officiating than during the B10 season, I believe so. I’ve seen some foul calls that don’t get called in the B10. I would also say some athleticism differences and teams using that to their advantage....who thought Oral Roberts should be able to compete with Ohio State...Grand Canyon had some athleticism to go with size and guard play....they were no slouch.

I think it is the grind of the Big10 and the physically play of the conference. No cupcakes from top to bottom and tough games every night. Other conferences have tournaments but the Big10 has such physical games really hurts them. Garza did not look very fresh the other night either. In the second half he could hardly get off the ground and the Big guy from Grand Canyon was almost outplaying him. I heard Garza played all 20 minutes in the second half. I was hoping he could have played a few less minutes. Its just like in football when the team has a high profile game and is sky high a lot of times there is a let down. Just my opinion.

Yep I thought for sure that last possession the game is won, GCU put subs in, so pull our starters and make sure none of them get a ridiculous injury....a little on floor time for the guys that will hopefully be back there next year.

Garza is wearing down a bit.

I watched some games from early in the year recently and he looked to have more bounce..

I think what’s it’s showing is it’s not all about the usual blue bloods anymore . The talent is spread out evenly among schools and another thing is not being familiar with your opponents . There is a lot of well coached teams out there with good talent. We’re just used to seeing the B1G and so are the players .

Osu lost to oral Roberts....lets not gloss over that.
NDSU should have won that Summit League title if not for a very bad 1st half and a panic attack at the end of the game. But they would've been more likely to lose their 1st Rd NCAA game because of their inconsistencies.

Oral Roberts game plan was every high seed's worst nightmare. Hope their energy can force the opponent into playing sloppy and hit lots of hero ball 3s.

Ohio State, who is still a younger team themselves, played right into their hands.

This is very true. Since so many kids want to be starters right away, many talented players are opting for mid-major programs rather than the elites where they know they’ll sit for a year or two.

I'd agree Garza is worn down.

The Garza advantage for Iowa for 1st half of the season had been he'd put up close to 30 points and shoot better than 60% and make 3's and play okay post defense. Since Nunge got hurt, he's dialed it back on his aggressiveness on defense and he's missed a lot of bunnies that he wasn't missing. The double teams and triple teams, the wide variety of types of athletes guarding him, fatigue....playing soft on defense because no Nunge...its all catching up. Iowa needs the bench more now, and it needs the other 4 guys to score.

Since Nunge went down, any team with a decent offensive post player has been putting up 20 points at high efficiency on Iowa... Dickinson, Potter, Cockburn, even this Grand Canyon guy scored at high efficiency vs Garza. Nunge was a huge ace in the hole.

The one thing you've mentioned in past---Garza passing better out of double teams would be a big lift for this Iowa team. I was surprised to see Weezy put up 5 assists vs GCU...he's another guy that wasn't as good at passing the ball as he could have been this season.

Yeah, it was really apparent when I rewatched earlier games in December.

Luka was unstoppable.

There was a noticeable difference in his activity, his bounce and his demeanor.

I would love to see him slow down a bit like the center for Loyola.

Utilize the great shooters you have.

Did you watch that game? Oral Roberts is damn good. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Sweet 16.

LMFAO! They were the worst defensive team in the entire tournament and ranked 287th in points allowed this year vs a crap schedule. They’re awesome!
