We look at the lineup change and we can correlate the turn in a positive direction to when that happened. We’ve seen Jordan start to shoot the ball better as well as other factors attributed to the lineup change.

But I wonder if having a 6’ 3” athlete at the 2G, a guy that gives great effort on defense, is an effective rebounder, and brings real energy isn’t just as big of a factor? Maybe he helps set the tone defensively and from a rebounding perspective.

Most likely it’s improved defense, rebounding, and the team starting to jell….but Tony might be a bigger factor than his points production says…….interested in others thoughts.

I’m not an expert and not stating the above as fact.

Tony is a pretty selfless player. But he still looks like he's more comfortable coming off the bench. 🙂

I agree with that…..he doesn’t quite look himself. Maybe like he’s deferring to others, so maybe he’ll flip a switch and decide he needs to assert himself.

He was an alpha in HS but I think he wasn't until later in HS (junior/senior years). Might not see it until next year but he has that ability. He and Ulis both seem to be physically gifted.

Totally agree. He doesn’t need the ball to impact game. If he gets going a bit on offense that is just plus plus Doing a great job of setting aggressive tone on both offense and defense. Does not force too often but attacks when there. His defense is high caliber big ten.

Perkins can get all the way down the lane off the dribble so I would like to see him work that option a couple more times per game - especially when he has a smaller, less physical defender...... just needs a little better touch on those shots at the basket.

Good comment,.. I think we tend to forget how much the makeup of the team was manipulated to accommodate Garza's talents.
But without effectively enough making up for his glaring deficiencies, especially on defense. It looks like they are really beginning to nail that down - and REBOUNDING - and that’s why this is an even more fun team to watch than last year. More equipped for March.

Everyone but JBo gets down the lane now. Very enjoyable to see.

NU, you are spot on with this. He can into the lane and needs to as much as possible. Learn to score there or bring defenders and kick it out. Joe and Aaron need to do more of the same.

I like these four guards a lot. They should absolutely destroy Nebby, but you never know.

IDK, Patrick frequently picks up his dribble in the middle of the lane and then looks for help to bail-out. He should study Mulcahy (Rutgers) who has developed a couple Y-league shots for that situation, including a sweet scoop shot off a quick pivot. He can get to the rim though, but he needs to scrap the running hook IMO.t.

Aaron is pretty good at probing the lane.

Hes also good at not giving up his dribble. Hell get all the way under the hoop but dribble back out.

Thats something Joe needs to work on. Not being so determined to make something happen every time he gets in the lane.

I think the big thing about having Tony as a starter is rebounding is better. That leads to runouts and transition buckets. Even if he doesn't get the board he is preventing others (on the other team) from getting to the ball. He is a big physical guard and makes it less likely the Hawks get pushed around.

Yes, he needs to quit that crap but I love the running hook.
He seemingly never looks at the rim when he shoots it and whichever Crispin does color commentating is spot on- you have to be looking at the rim to make the shot.

Patrick needs to see some George Gervin tapes, he's long like Ice and needs to take advantage.....

I'm a huge Patrick fan....he has tremendous potential. The running bank shots are very inconsistent BUT, it's more like game to game than it is shot to shot. He's had a couple games where that bank shot is money....but several games where it's close but no good.

The point about looking at the rim might be exactly what the problem is?

Like Patrick a lot as well. He and the twins are three seriously legit scoring threats.

I never realized it til Crispin gave some examples during a game he was calling.
Crispin is really good and was totally spot on.
