So that is what we go by, got ya. LOL. Ignore key non calls because they were penalized more.I get the sour grapes. But no game is going to be officiated perfectly.
At the end of the game Sparty was penalized 8 times for 80 yards, and Iowa 5 times for 45.
There were probably bad calls going against Sparty too. They even out throughout the game unless it's the 2006 outback bowl, or 13 BTT vs sparty.(still salty about both)
I'll only add my 2 cents because of the title of the thread and this has not been mentioned. The hold call on Vande MAY have cost us a TD as his double move clearly left the MSU DB flatfooted and CJ put the ball on the money. Back to back long TD throws may have broken their back but instead its just a 10 yard penalty instead of a TD.
I was really disappointed in Kidd's punting as the year went on. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt that it was the colder weather the last several games but that was not the case Saturday night. Hoping KF and Chris White have a plan (recruit) to upgrade at punter next year.1. That was not a false start on the MSU FB/linemen. The guy never has to get set, he just can't be moving forward. He leans, but technically is not moving forward so no call. There was no hold on Jewell, if they call that a hold, then every play in football will need to be penalized.
2. The play on Smith was not PI, he made a great play. Yes he had his hands on him, but he didn't impede smith from catching the ball. He caught the one bomb, the other deep throw we had to him, he could of caught it, instead he threw one hand up and tried putting the other one out? Seemed odd, he could of tried catching it and didn't?
3. Special Teams- Punting did not do us any favors. We had some bad punts tonight and it costed us field position. Need to be able to punt the ball farther than 25-30yds indoors.
4. Playcalling- Yeah we seemed tentative early on, but we just got out manned at the LOS. They were physical and I liked the fact we started to throw some screens and sweeps to get to the edge. Just wish we could of converted in the 4th quarter.

Well if a lineman tackling our linebacker to prevent a would-be tackle on the game-winning touchdown is not determining the outcome of the game, then I guess such things have never happened in the history of sport..............(and just like the '06 Outback Bowl, that UNC player was WAY offside)I am sure there were some missed calls, but I do not think it was one sided nor do I think it determined the outcome of the game..
I feel as though the other 185 plays in the game had more of an impact of the game....make a play or two in the other 185 plays and we win and take the "no call" out of the equation. This game was much different the the 06' bowl game, in which it was obvious the officials made such a large impact on the game it was the reason we lost. That is not the case in this game and it is such a losers mentality to sum the entire game up and place blame on one play, I am sure the players and coaches will look at what they could have done better/different.....at least I sure hope so. I also remember a key and questionable holding call on MSU on a pretty big play in the 1st half too, I mean it was not obviously one sided so I am sorry I am just not buying this whole argumentWell if a lineman tackling our linebacker to prevent a would-be tackle on the game-winning touchdown is not determining the outcome of the game, then I guess such things have never happened in the history of sport..............(and just like the '06 Outback Bowl, that UNC player was WAY offside)![]()
Jfc people. NEITHER of these teams was capable of putting a clean 22 play drive together against the other the way the defenses were playing. Our defense was nails all night and suddenly couldn't stop a thing on that drive. To say Michigan State got away with a lot is a giant understatement. It wasn't one questionable play or situation. It was the whole damn drive. And because they got away with it all, they get to play in the damn cotton bowl for what I feel is underserved chance at a national championship and we get screwed out of it. It was garbage. Absolute garbage and it's gonna take me a long time to get over it. That's not how the game is supposed to be played. Hard for players to decide the game when not all are required to play within the scope of the rules.I feel as though the other 185 plays in the game had more of an impact of the game....make a play or two in the other 185 plays and we win and take the "no call" out of the equation.
