A fumble on a punt return, fielding a punt on the three yard line and the turnover when Beyer touched the ball on the punt return were all critical mistakes. While it is easy to blame Beyer on the touch, he should have had help from his teammates to tell him to get away from the ball. A lot to work on next week.

Funny how everyone was away from the football except Beyer. How did everyone else know to get away from the ball?

Bingo! Awareness. After 7 seconds and no commotion, look around. Your blocking won't matter. And know where you are- deep in your own end- not likely to have a big return on with a lot of other players down field. The ball had almost became a dead ball.

Awareness of the moment and position. Beyer may become a very good TE at Iowa but this was not smart football. Wisconsin punted from Iowa's 47. Short field. What could you expect. I hate to point out a player, especially one of our own as we do feel for the young man but there are times we shake our heads and wonder WTF!

Kyle's fumble looked more like carelessness as he really did not take any impact hit before he coughed it up. Iowa had the momentum at the time of the fumbled punt return and likely could have gotten some points. I know Woods and Ferentz stress ball security so I cannot blame the coaches. This one is on the kids.

We are looking for a scapegoat and the Beyer play was bad but honestly when the game mattered the most, with a lead in the fourth, we failed both to score or stop them. Program loss in all phases and probably and indicator we are mentally and physically weak. This will be another 7-5 team and exactly what I picked. We have not even lost the annual KF stinker yet but you know it’s coming.

Yup. We play in a phone booth and we let the other team step up in tight situations. We had the ball w/the lead and clock running and we throw on 2 of 3 downs??? Run the ball and get the first down.

Iowa’s WR are so bad it’s not even funny. But even if we had 4-5 star talent at WR our QB would miss them.

We can analyze style of play and play calling until the cows come home but bottom line is the tougher more confident program won. They were not phased by time and score. They executed because they knew they could regardless if it was a first down run by them about 95% of the time or throw after. We are not awful just not in the same league and it’s evident. Facts are facts when you lose 6 of 7 and a number of those contests came down to winning the 4th quarter.
