This interview is from about two weeks ago. Pretty interesting stuff. Spencer hasn't ruled out competing at Fargo after Junior Worlds and mentioned that he has never competed there before.

Doesn't show the live go, but the interviewer mentions that Danny Mitcheff was too tired to show technique after rolling with Spencer Lee. That's impressive, Mitcheff is a solid Senior level, collegiate AA guy with at least 15 pounds on Lee.

Lee also discusses his decision to go to Iowa. He mentions his interest in Stanford/ Princeton. He said he was concerned about the possible lack of partners and the desire to wrestle in front of a lot of people.

He talks about wanting to be the guy that helps Iowa become a powerhouse again.

Lastly, he mentioned that when he won his 3rd PA state title, he was returning from injury. Additionally, he was sick with the flu. He ended up pinning four opponents and dominated in the finals.

Good stuff, can't wait to watch this kid next season and then in black and gold.

Tell Spencer the Ivy League is what grad school is for. One goal at a time.

Sounds like he knows that. His Dad told him that what if you win three instead of four because maybe you didn't have the partners you needed. I guess his Dad is a professor at Carnegie Mellon. Guess he was at a camp with several senior level guys and was doing pretty good. We might see him at Fargo which would be great...he's never been.

Just watched his Jr World matches along with some Teasdale matches and their college choice interviews. Stuff never gets old.

That's because everyone loves a happy ending.

Great interview. I like the story about how Gavin shared with Spencer he was also going to come to Iowa.

Spencer obviously has his head on straight. He's well spoken for his age. And his commitment and drive are obvious. It's going to be fun to see where this kid goes in the sport he has already taken by storm.

I love Iowa wrestling and I still pinch myself knowing we will soon see Spencer in a black single. It's exciting to see this roster come together ... for 2016 and beyond. This is going to be a fun ride folks.

Anyone else hear Lee mention Terry in the interview as the most influential coach at Iowa for him?

We need to keep Terry happy, imo.
If he weren't happy he'd already be gone wouldn't he? He's got plenty of options and everyone knows that.
