Spencer Lee is coming to town

Let's just say that he's coming to Penn State no doubt about it. You guys at Iowa are stuck back in the days when you were the national power. You guys aren't anymore and a lot of recruits know that. Spencer is going to Penn state and I can't wait till he commits!
Do you fill better now.....

You a gambling man?

From a good source he reportedly LOVES the Hawks
Not going to predict anything, but Gavin's Twitter feed was pretty delirious about Mark Hall's announcement.

That said, like any great recruit, there are going to be several factors at play. I think your upcoming dual at Kinnick is an awesome idea and I guarantee Cael and Tom Ryan are watching it intently.

A guy can dream, but imagine a lineup that started out:

125 Lee
133 Renteria/Meija
141 Fix
149 Kemerer
157 Happel
165 Marinelli
174 Young

Not to mention some of the bigger weights we have coming.
I think it would take a crowbar and Semtex to pry Fix from the Cowboys

It's a 2 team race for Gavin and Spencer both... This weekend is enormous.

Look at Teasdale's Twitter feed. Why was he so happy to see where Hall went. I think Willie was throwing Ok State a bone.

I don't think anybody knows where either is going. When Mark Hall announced his Flo thing, I think he had it down to either Minne or tOSU. It's why he said the Midwest. Mark knew everything PSU had to offer in terms of wrestling...Cael, DT, potential titles etc. I really don't think it was until he got to see PSU's campus, atmosphere etc that he changed his mind. Sometimes, a place just speaks to you and in your head, it's an automatic fit.

Hard to tell at this point who's serious with comments like this and who isn't. But any of this talk about publicly acknowledging a recruit's achievements or presence at the meet is a huge NCAA violation and will not happen.
I was serious until you said that.

Da, is there any other reason Spoons. His favorite team is going to Iowa to give a beat down to Iowa and he wants to be there and enjoy and party with the team afterwards. Now where is that picture of him, me and John. The perfect time to post it but I can't find it. My wife deleted it I'll be looking for another wife!
Looking for another wife ? I've got one you can have.......or were you letting us know you're a Mormon?

Gavin really looks like a one team race to me. Unless he wants to wrestle for Iowa and be a PSU fan.

No doubt in my mind that Cael will do whatever he can to break it. By that I mean paying and busing homeless into the stadium. His quote from PSU's media day says it all. 'I Hope It's Cold" not only makes him look like a dhead, it really shows how much he cares about "growing the sport".

he can't stand Iowa and OSU getting this kind of attention.

Brands did this thing right. had the 2 most storied programs in the country. Charged $10 a ticket. Had it 8 hours ahead of the football game so that there is no doubt this is a wrestling crowd.

Wow, talk about taking things out of context. Brands & Sanderson are competitive as can be, but there is a great deal of respect that each coach shares with each other. Both Sanderson and Brands have done a lot to grow the sport.

Here is the exact quote and link. Draw your own conclusions:

"I hope it's real cold,'' Sanderson said with a laugh. He was kidding and promptly complimented Iowa coach Tom Brands for helping to grow the sport. "If it works, maybe we'll do something like that, who knows?''

Good comeback Mike. We all know why he coming to Iowa City. Just trying to have a little fun with you. I don't know about the but whopping part but it sure is going to be fun!! It's gonna be close either way I'll be there screaming my head off with my 10 year old son & 40k other HAWK fans hoping & praying for a Hawk victory!!

Was thinking the same thing, art. Could you imagine Kinnick if Spencer walked to center mat with Tom, Terry, and Ryan -- maybe Jody Srittmatter, too -- and announced he was going to be a Hawk? The place might come crumbling down on the spot do to the eruption of the crowd. Wishful thinking, but man, would that be cool.
He couldn't walk out with the Hawk coaches but if he made a commitment during GotG it would definitely 1 up what Hall did.

IMO Austin O'Connor has always been (since he was a preteen) the best propect in the class of 2017 in Illinois. He beat Renteria in the state finals their freshman year after Renteria beat him during the season. Known the family for years, have coached him on some dual teams, he occasionally works out at OPRF and he's good friends with Renteria.
There are a lot of good offline stories as AO is quite the character. The kid is as gritty as they come and would be a great fit at Iowa. If he becomes a Hawk one of those studs I keep seeing in future lineup predictions between 149-165 will be a high quality backup.

Jacob Warner-
2x state finalist, champ as a sophomore last year. Coached by best greco coach in the country, Bryan Medlin. He attends plenty OPRF camps and while having a high national ranking at an upper weight before starting his junior season is impressive in itself, there's quite an impressive list of guys I've watched him beat in "unofficial" matches during workouts. A certain head coach was in town visiting a certain thin framed OPRF wrestler I'm pretty familiar with last year during such a camp when he first saw Warner handling some dudes. I informed said coach that Warner had just completed his freshman year and, "He's just a freshman? Wow..." fast forward 17 months and Warner is in IC.

Ryan is already making plans to install UV lamps throughout the Horseshoe.

Yes, I'm a bored person trying to get a rouse out of this board. It was getting pretty boring so I though I would spice things up and it worked just as I thought it would. I'm not an Iowa hater in all honesty but your board is the most active wrestling board to mess with.
I don't mean to be a dickhead but if I were bored, I think I'd find a better way of fixing it than trolling a message board. I'm assuming you're young, do you realize all the enjoyable things a young man could be getting into to have fun? I'm married, kids and in my 40s now and at times think back at what might have been. When I do that, I'm thinking about all that "tail" I missed out on. I'm certainly not daydreaming about trolling some message board.

I guess my advice would be..... Don't be me in 30 years . Keeping regrets to a minimum starts now young man...

Made the Cadet World team this year at 50 kg (I think that is the weight) and is really good friends with Lee. One of the reasons the Lee was rumored to go up to wrestle 54 kg at Cadets (the tournament he lost to Daton Fix at) was because he wanted to make the team with Gavin.

Pretty sure he is also on track to be a 4xPA state champ

No basis, just thinking. Gavin goes to the same HS (Jefferson-Morgan) that Cary Kolat went to. I wonder if Kolat will make a push to get Gavin into Campbell. That program is doing some good things.

JTS FTW

Gavin's father went to HS with Cary. they are still buds. though i have no idea if Gavin would consider them.

would assume iowa is on his list and obv penn state. and he's really high on ok state too.

Gavin's a real talent and landing him would be a huge splash for their program. After watching your documentary series I'm rooting for good things to come Cary Kolat's way.

yeah, gavin's dad said (at who's #1) that the series was sort of therapeutic for cary. his dad, and his uncle, who went on the trip to cadet worlds with us, are among the best wrestling parents/family i ever met. really good people.

It blew me away. I've followed Cary a bit over the years and always thought he was amazing, but I had no idea all the drama that occurred. Imagine if any of that happened to an athlete in the big three (baseball, football or basketball) the national media would have been all over it. That series was some of Flo's best work as good as any 30 for 30 I've ever seen. I showed it to some of my non-wrestling fan friends and they were as into it as I was. I look at Kolat with a renewed reverence.

Trolling while writing an essay for school is great. I don't plan on doing it often but when I do I hope all of you get a big laugh because all the things that I'm saying are 100 percent shit talk. I hope to be in some non trolling conversations too, but when I'm bored and stuck in the house things might get dirty. Chasing tail is what I do on Friday night and all day Saturday, not Friday afternoon.

I think Dennis Hall might beg to differ on this.

In any case, sounds like an impressive young wrestler.

The truth is out that Spencer and Gavin is really coming to see Oklahoma State not Iowa. Glad somebody let the cat out of the bag. Now we can have a dozen threads on this matter on our board (of course the one about Spencer wedding and me being the best man).

And let me guess, a wrestling forum is the best place for you to do that at 1:00 am on a Saturday morning.....

I have been tracking AO for a while, he looks very tough. Would be a great get!
