Spencer Lee: Offensive Nightmare

Growing up in NW Iowa, we called SL's go-to, back point move a "Worthington." I loved tilting guys that way. But I sure wish I had learned to perfect the series the way that Lee and others have.

Lee's transition from that tilt to the addition of a half on the other side is sick. And having the strength to throw that half in on the fly without the opponent being able to roll through is amazing.

He should marry Sara and eat pie for days. Surely he will fill out 125 then

Is this something like the latest "pizza," references?

Lee is going to be fun to watch. I think he epitomizes the type of wrestling Brands talks often about ... Too many times we hear Brands saying we "left too many points on the mat" and we need to be "more aggressive." ...

With Lee, that won't be a problem ... Unfortunately, for us, Penn State has a roster loaded with guys who can score points ... That being said, I like what's coming to Iowa in Lee, Warner, Teasedale ... And of course, the Bull is already here ... I like the future of Iowa wrestling ...

When reading the "Development Thread," it made me think about how lethal Spencer is on top. I believe his performance at state last year is the type of offensive aggressiveness fans are craving when questioning development in the room. Can't wait to watch him in Carver!!!

I hit the "like" button on this post...... Is there a "I freaking love it" button?

That was a fun watch. I know all Iowa fans can't wait to see him in Black & Gold, but in my opinion all wrestling fans should be wanting to see him in college and especially in the NCAAs. He is something else.

I can see why a few "select schools" may not want to see his talents, ever:)

And of course, Mike Kemerer. Dude will be a beast once a few of his issues are solved.

I think Murin is going to be a pleasant 'surprise' to some as well. He wrestles a tough style and he's always getting in on the legs. Maybe not ranked as high as others, but I think he's just as talented as a lot of the kids in the 15-30 range. I think he will develop into a very solid 141 for us, to accompany Lee and Teasdale as PA lightweight hammers.

Another thing i'd like to add about Murin is he has the same mental intangibles that we love in our Iowa recruits, hating to lose, wanting to be around the best, and of course hes a life long Hawk fan, and you could tell he really wanted to be a Hawk before he committed, exemplified in Todd Conners interviews of him over the summer. After his JR yr state finals loss he was about to burst into tears and was not happy with himself at all, and you could tell in his post-match interview that he really wanted to train even harder so that never happened again, and then the next time the two faced at disney duals, Murin wins. Him having Lee and Teasdale as his best buddies and practice room partners now and at Iowa certainly won't hurt him, he'll be able to finish better on guys like Courtney in his state finals match.

As another side note, I can't wait to watch all Iowa recruits this season in their SR year quests. Hoping for State titles for all, and National + World titles in the post season :)

I will add that Murin did beat Courtney a couple of months later after his state finals loss to him in March 3-2. He beat him at the Disney Duals Finals 3-2 in June.

This young man is special in every sense of the word... I can't say that enough. Thank the moon and stars we're watching this knowing he's a Hawkeye.
I can't agree enough with this , I put him up right up there probably above Kolat. The kid he beat in finals will be a fine D1 wrestler in his own right. The comments regarding Murin are spot on, it is amazing that he and Young tend to get overlooked due to others recruited in there class but they have the opportunity to be studs. Realize I am from PA and not thrilled to see that you have developed recruiting in the area

Just a quick note, kingslayer. . . . It's a pleasure to read your posts. We don't get that a lot from PA fans. Hats off for your consistently knowledgeable, respectful tone. Thanks for being such a positive contributor to discussions on our board. You're a rare commodity.

Lee is obvious, but the Young kid has wanted to be a Hawkeye for at least 6 years b4 his HS graduation and his work ethic is unbelievable. The other thing about the kid is he will absorb everything shown him and as he is taught he will incorporate the new information.
Just my guess but you guys are going to really love having him as a hawk.

Whatever. I am just saying I think Young is going to the PA kid you guys are gonna like (Lee aside).

nitlion: If you stop and think about it, wildturk gave a bigger compliment than a simple like to your post above. And he threw in a Seinfeld line to boot.
