Stanford vs. Iowa - The real tale of the tape...

I wholeheartedly disagree, because you are in the top 1% on here when it comes to being a pretentious douche bag....it is a much better place when you are not involved and there have been numerous douche bag posting discussions that your name (along with a few others) are always brought up. That my friend is by definition of being extreme[/Not so fast,midnight-Swag is a crowd favorite.Never heard of you on the other hand......

Swag is legendary here and midnight not so much.
I just had some run ins with Swag this summer and his overly pessimist doom and gloom outlook and as the season played out he was not as vocal. He then quoted Big Lebowski and made up for much of the negativity.....

IDK they have a tree that can walk! Although one of the more puzzling mascots in the wonderful world of sports

I think they also have an understudy that is a leaf, who eventually becomes the tree. That's pretty awesome.

Didn't Herky have an understudy or assistant mascot at one point? I thought I heard Disney even had a hand in it's design, but the fans hated it and it went away? I can't verify it via Google.

Isn't their tree a conifer? And they think big conifers come from leaves? There are several problems with that. I guess Stanford isn't so smart after all.

You listed Vonnegut as best professor, which I don't believe he ever even was a professor at Iowa, then you failed to list him as best writer but out Diablo Cody? The writer of Juno over Slaughterhouse-five?

1) He was a professor from 1965-1967 and was regularly a guest lecturer after that. I had the honor to attend one of these lectures and Q&A sessions as a student at the U of I. FYI, he also began writing "Slaughterhouse Five" while teaching at Iowa.

2) I only listed alumni, and he was not one. He would be the top of my list had he been. He's my favorite novelist of all-time, and a big reason I attended the U of I and the Writer's Workshop as an undergrad (I submitted work for Poetry, Short Story, and Personal Writing. Only got accepted into Personal Writing, which is when I got to attend his lecture. Side note: two of my classmates are now nationally known members of the sports media. /csb).

Based on your totally non-biased results, I think this totally tips the scale on the football field to Iowa. Lets just put that Rose Bowl trophy in the case now, its a done deal. :)

Grant Wood was a professor at Iowa. And given American Gothic is one of the most famous paintings in US history, seems he would be considered notable as well.

I'll add one more category to this entirely unbiased survey.
Iowa alumni parents whose child is admitted to both Iowa and Stanford - massive ADV: Stanford.
Obviously I don't have statistical evidence to support the above, but I've got to believe it's highly likely to be accurate. Of course, you're free to tell me I'm way off base, or worse, but... seriously??
Regardless, a pretty fun original post for the Hawkeye faithful.

Stanford has two National Football championships (1926, 1940).

Didn't quote pre-war national championships as they were retroactively awarded by the NCAA. In that case, you would add two more for Iowa as well with Howard Jones' 1921 and 1922 National Championship teams. Iowa 3, Stanford 2.
