Stanley is a stud

Reminds me more of phillip rivers. I get a kick when people rag on him for throwing nothing but fastballs. Worked pretty good for brett farve. Might be a little detrimental in college but it will serve him well at the next level. Oh, and heres a novel idea, maybe our receivers should go ahead and catch the damn ball!

Huh? Pump the breaks!

But I do really like the kid! The offense is FREAKING close to putting it together..... Problem is that the last two weeks...they just aren't showing signs of putting it all together. So close but so far away

He seems to have a better pocket presence than CJB did. Would love to see him take off running more. Adds so much to an offense.

Seemed like He took off and ran more tonight than he had the previous games combined. Really well played tonight. MAN defense is solid too.

Fingers crossed that the O finally gets clicking.

Kid has a hose thats for sure.

Stanley’s trajectory is promising. I think he’ll be an NFL QB too though — good reads, good accuracy, good poise, great arm strength — and he’s getting more comfortable throwing into windows.

If this team can get the running game back to the point where we can count on 3-5 yards on first down, then we’ll be competitive with the top 5 in the conference for the next two years.

If our receiving corps were collectively a step faster and better at catching the ball, he could be having a monster year. I sure hope there are good things to come from him as the program continues to rebuild.

He needs 10 more passing TD this year to tie the season record. 11 more to tie. He has 4 games to do it.

His ability to escape danger is definitely Big Ben esque. I was flabbergasted on how he was able to get away from tacklers a number of times tonight.

He'll be running for his life next week! I'd like to see him pull it down once in a while on the roll-outs...not that fast, but a big horse to bring down.

Agreed. Nate is big as a bull and probably stronger than a lot of defenders (backers, D backs obviously). Good presence, very strong arm and a rapidly improving touch on the deep balls. Better thrower than Rudock or CJB.

The biggest collection of homers ever on this thread. He played well against a below average Minnesota. He has a LONG ways to go before NFL will be calling his name on draft weekend.

Just put this in perspective... 2-3 weeks ago people wondered if Weigers should start. Stanley has 1 quality win in his career (Iowa State). He has not shown a consistent long ball. This is the same type of conversation ISU had after their OK win about Lanning. It is premature and would be laughed at by any other team's message board.

In Stanley's defense, even tho he's no where near an NFL qb yet it's hard to get into an offensive rhythm when you have as many balls dropped as our receivers have, your o line is struggling to run block and pass protect, and the play calling is so predictable.

His interceptions this year include a tipped pass, a receiver drop that was grabbed tonight, and a desperation pass on a must have drive. As I recall he threw one high ball to a DB this year.

At the start of the season we were looking for a game manager to support what we thought would be a dominate run game. I don't see that getting much better next year, but I do see Nate growing. He's shown the ability to stay upright and to perform when the game is in the balance. IMO the NFL talk is crazy premature today, but I do believe he'll be a solid B1G qb the next two years.

The offense is close??? More like far away. This scoring 10-17 pts a week the last few weeks isn't going to cut it the next two games against better competition.

Better thrower than CJB? LOL no. As much as I'm tired of Brian's boring offensive play calling, even his pass plays in the R2P2 offense are downfield a lot more than Greg dink and dunk Davis. If CJB had this many play calls down field, he'd have a lot more TDs because he can hit the deep ball consistently.

Faster? They are fast enough (and open on a regular basis), they just have to catch the damn balls.

Comparing Lanning to Stanley qualifies you as mentally retarded.
I believe the criteria for diagnosing a cognitive disability is a little more in-depth than this, and Coach Gable would not be pleased with these comments from someone associating himself with his monicker. Don't believe me? Ask him.

And he's a TRUE sophomore. CJ wasn't even on the field at this stage in his career. I think everyones a little excited to see what he could become. Why not....

I think Minny game was 1st time Stanley showed some ability to escaped sacks. The spin move, ducking and using his free hand to support him...nice. This is big step. However, he is not yet Drew Tate. Next thing is for Stanley to collect himself and make good throws after he's escaped. I am very high on Stanley. I think Iowa is closer...they need to come out throwing. Run blocking is just not there this year.

Stanley is smart, cool, makes good decisions. Big arm. I would not compare him to Roethlisberger though.

The one mistake he made on our last drive is he should’ve stayed in bounds on his run.

I'm rewatching this game fellas and I'm telling you we have a good one here. Announcers labeled him "slick". 6-5, 240, with a f*ing rocket launcher and "slick" is a good thing. He is figuring this thing out and seemed way more comfortable this week.
