IU back in Bubble talk somehow but they got a ton to play for and for Crean himself. We beat them in 2OT's at home. IU has so much firepower on offense. I keep hearing everyone saying we are going to win with not much people concerned, hopefully team isn't over confident as well. I felt good about the last 4 games going in not so much about this one. I am also ok with the NIT if they do lose and you won't find me on the meltdown fire Fran threads post game like we'll see.

As a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.........I'm worried about pretty much every game. Been kicked in the sack way too may times to ever be too confident.....
Exactly, I just don't feel it right now, does it matter? Of course not, but I felt we would beat MD, Wiscy etc at end of the year. This one just isn't sitting well with me. Over confidence is everywhere in the media and fan base hopefully doesn't spill into the teams head.

Man I'm not even stressed about this. I figured this year was rebuilding anyway and every win from here on out is a bonus. We are already heading to the NIT so kick back and enjoy the ride and see what happens.....Future is bright brah...

Thats why I wanted Nebraska.. I've hated this matchup since it was announced!
Yep me too, I was into the Nebarska/Michigan game rooting for Nebby openly but they were down by 20 in about 5 minutes so that was that. Also, OSU beating IU was way into that game as well. IU has momentum themselves with that miraculous NW win and the OSU road win. Not good.

Yep, great approach. I just think everyone talking about Wiscy on Friday, need 2 wins blah blah may be in for disappointment if they think we got Thursday locked. I'll be semi surprised if we win on Thursday. Fran has sucked donkey in this tournament but this is definitely a knew team and a much more mentally strong team. It is the opponent that is the concern. We need to turnover IU and pound it inside for fouls like we did at home.

You're 100% correct however I feel like it would be a MASSIVE bonus for this team to dance. That kind of experience would be something that we wouldn't have to worry about going into the dance next year!

I am exactly with both of you, I just find myself getting way to jacked up for the Dance right now and I needed to take a step back and actually analyze the game tomorrow and it is of grave concern.

The bad feeling comes from the fact we've seen this movie plenty of times before.

I started a thread myself probably for the purpose of hoping to read something that would relieve my anxiety a bit. Lol. The reality is the BTT is wildly unpredictable. The reality is even though Indiana was in a funk at the end of the season they still are the same group of guys who beat Kansas, what seems like eons ago; but of course, they are also the same group of guys who lost to IUPUI (or whatever school, and yes, Iowa had Omaha, so there's that). Also, it's Tom Crean creepin' the sidelines, so that should add a few points in Iowa's favor based on incompetence alone.

Still, you're right, Indiana is/can be explosive. And Iowa has perfected the art of laying an egg in the BTT. All of that said, did anyone really think two weeks ago that we would even be biting our nails at the prospect of Iowa getting an at large bid? I sure didn't. So some perspective might help. Even if Iowa loses tomorrow, this season has already surpassed my expectations (at least as far as the conference regular season is concerned).

Plus, should Iowa lose, they will then be in the NIT and getting invaluable experience from that. Either way, plenty to be grateful and appreciative of.

Yep agree, for me it is selfish reasons why I'm way to jacked up about Dance. Since 2006 I have had the 1st 2 rounds off from work, have either attended or hosted a March Madness party, kegs, food, 4 tvs going 24/7 for the 4 days. I want the Hawks IN, nothing better than that. For so many years we weren't even close. Ironically year 1 of me doing this was the NW St debacle LOL. Nothing like ruining 3 of 4 days after that sucker and we were the 1st game on Friday. Blah, we are due for success but yeah, we have all seen this same song and dance for our lifetimes as Iowa fans. Hoping the likes of Cook and Bohannon can reverse this with how mentally strong they are.

Its actually kind of nice when expectations are low. LOL
I have enjoyed this season immensely. My stress level for hoops is as low as I can remember in many seasons! Maybe its because I know any growing pains now are just a bump in the road for when we open some serious whoop ass come next year! Experience this year has been indispensable. Like I said the future looks extremely bright fellas...

Wait. After losing at home to Illannoy, you felt good about playing the same Indiana team you are worried about now after our 4 game tear? And, after beating Indiana with a comeback and in OT, you felt good about winning at MD?

Me too, I haven't stressed much either. I have started to now after the MD win and I'm back to 2012-2016 levels again with this game tomorrow now that we are IMO 1 win away from being in. But, I won't be disgusted with a loss like I found myself in the past. Largely due to how they continued to lose, same way every freaking time. This new crop of players is refreshing from that standpoint.

Yes, my gut is odd and a lot of the time right after 30 plus years of watching these Hawks. I called the MD and WI wins after we survived IU and felt we would roll Ped St which we did. Now I am not feeling it.

Yeah, one thing that gives me pause on the whole "this has happened too many times" despondency for 2017 is Iowa's biggest choke jobs (this century at least) have been with very experienced teams--like 2006 and the end of the year debacle last season.

This team has a lot of moxie and seems oblivious to conventional wisdom that they are too young to be winning now.

Oh, and I see you're a Polk City cat, huh? I grew up around the Saylorville/Big Creek area.

Nice, yep. Des Moines area since 2006, from North Iowa, moved from Ankeny to PC 2 years ago for great school system of North Polk. Love it. Yes, you put Bohannon on last years team, wow they could of made a huge run. So it is a different team entirely from a mental standpoint and the fact we actually make 3s now! Who knew we could do that to opponents when it was always opponents killing us from 3!

I'm very apprehensive about this game, but of course, my feelings aren't going to determine the outcome. This young group just oozes confidence and competence.

I guess there is some consolation in knowing that no matter the outcome, there will still be games to be played for this group. I can't imagine them being locked out of the NIT if they lose. That said, winning our way into the NCAA's would be so sweet.

Yep, we are in the same mindset. I may try and get over to an NIT game as well if we play before the Dance starts since I'm hosting the party this year starting next Thursday.

3 straight BTT Thursday turds can certainly affect anyone's optimism about Iowa's chances.

Very true - but this team seems to have a swagger that was lacking in previous years. I keep telling myself this Indiana game can't start any worse than how the the 1st game did.

Hmmm. Your post prior to the Wisconsin game..

Hard to focus at work today, getting a bit more concerned now I was feeling very confident before. I don't like the line and it barely moving after 91% of betting public are taking Iowa, that is scary. Making 12+ 3's can offset that kind of stuff for sure though. We can't have our patented 5+ minute scoring drought in this game. Need to be efficient all night on both ends. Rebound, eliminate their 2nd chance points and use Kriener and Pemsl's 5 fouls while sticking like glue to Koening that F bag makes so much BS.

I've gone to the Big Ten Tournament ever since the Lickliter years. This is the first year I haven't gone in a while. We are coming in hot, unlike past years where we have started well, then cooled off, and came in limping. I feel like this team is different. I think Iowa will come in hungry. Pemsl said it best when he commented on people saying how good they will be in 2 years. He said why not now? We want to be good now.

This has been a year of ups and downs, and it has been a blast to watch this team grow up. An NCAA berth would be a huge accomplishment considering the age of this group.

Indiana's resume isn't even CLOSE to Iowa's.. I think theres a pretty big drop off after the Hawkeyes.. I get the two big wins but there's nothing good beyond that!

I'm going to see Joe Bonamassa tomorrow, so won't know how the game is going. I'll find out later.

Iowa had to come back from 17-4 early and had to play comeback all game. If we can just try to not have a bad start, maybe the game will be different.

Didn't they have 3 or 4 players foul out too? Wonder if that could change how the game is called!?
Guess you won't be sleeping at all tonight :D

Will be disappointed if they lose to indy, but not overly so. This was an NIT year, and it looks like they're going to make that.

This says it all. I know better than to get my hopes up because being pleasantly surprised is so much better than disappointment. Any long time Hawks fan should have this mentality by now. If they don't then I am not sure how they have gotten through life thus far.

I'm an Iowa, Royals and Chiefs fan. I have had my fair share of sports related disappointment, anger and sometimes am just impressed with the way my teams find a way to lose big games lol

The royals winning the WS in '15 was honestly my one gratifying sports moment. Felt very good to be at the top of a sport. Meanwhile the Chiefs this year became the first team in NFL playoff history to score 2 or more TD's than their opponent and still lose. Can't even be mad about that. Just hilarious

Ugh, comeon Hawks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beat IU and they are IN with Friday not even mattering IMO!

I would hinder expectations on this a bit. Win the next two and then I think we're locked but with just one win it will still be an uphill battle. Syracuse losing today helps. Need some help from other power 5 bubble teams now.

No, just look at the bubble, teams ahead and behind us, they are dropping like flies. We are in with 1 win.

Don't be afraid. It's just nervous jitters. If I was Indiana, I would be very afraid.
