Starting to Look Like Clark to Stuelke Is Similar to Clark to Cinzano!

Agreed.

How about bringing McCabe along?
Our 3 point shooting (CC exempt) is suspect and streaky at best.
An off night from the perimeter by Clark may doom us as it's unknown who would pick up the slack.
McCabe comes with a reputation and it would be nice to get her some meaningful minutes.

Agree, the game is not to fast for her. She can run , quicker and has better hands than either Sharon or O,Grady.

Love this team. Hannah has really developed the past few games and I don't miss Czanano quite so much anymore. She has excellent hands, quick feet and rebounds well for only 6'2". Gotta hope she stays healthy. If Clark decides to stay another year and with Ava Heiden coming in Iowa could be even better next year.

She runs the court better than Monica. Her posts moves, her ability to pin her defender on the block are not as good yet. She could be a reason Caitlin sees why it would worth it to come back.
I know we keep trying to come up with reasons why she should come back, but I just don't see it. All of her "gang" Monica, Gabby, Mckenna, and her bestie Kate will be gone. The whole Indiana thing and Cmac being there, and the biggest thing I think will be any things she adds to those records won't mean much to her. Stars like Luka came back because their pro future was murky at best. Clark will be ready to forge into a new frontier.....

Czinano was only an inch taller but Stuelke can certainly jump over an inch higher than her. I never got why people thought she would be such a downgrade at the 5.

But yeah, a lineup of Clark, Feuerbach, Affolter, Stuelke and Heiden with McCabe + Gyamfi off the bench sounds really, really tough.

FWIW Clark also has great chemistry with Kylie and Syd. According to their social media they tend to travel together, along with Jada too. She seems to have quite an affection for McCabe as a kind of little sister, tho I’m not sure if/how that translates to the court.

This may be a hot take but I have a feeling Clark feels like the load is a bit lighter (in some ways) with them on the court — or it’s at least getting that way.

In the group therapy video from early last season, she said “no one else showed up to actually play basketball” — while harsh, many fans felt that way too. A lot of that IMO stemmed from the lack of athleticism of last seasons’s other starting 4 not named Clark. Teams like NC state could just neutralize everyone else with speed, size and strength.

In contrast, the team is much more athletic this year and also deeper — rebounding, loose balls, etc go our way a lot more often. More players can take it to the hoop. Almost everyone can keep up with her in transition. And more players are fresh at the end of a game. It doesn’t feel like all hope is lost if one person isn’t hitting shots bc they actually go deeper than 6 players this year.

With Kate, Molly and Gabbie (our three least athletic rotation players) graduating, next year’s team has the potential to up the pace even further. I think that could offer something worth considering. The team dynamic / chemistry has changed but so has its look / upside.

A few of us on here always knew the potential of the post-Fab 5 era, thanks to the (higher) caliber of younger recruits, but we had to wait for the logjam of longtime starters to graduate first. Hopefully Clark’s interest might be piqued by it as well (and its potential is proven with a good tourney run this season).

Do womens basketball teams have places for graduate assistant coaches? Kate would be perfect.

I agree she would a great coach and I’ve wondered if that might be the plan for her. Funnily enough I’ve long said that Kate Martin reminds me of Indiana’s Ali Patberg, who did end up joining their staff after her COVID year.

Tania Davis did that as a Graduate Assistant at Clemson for two years, working up to a stint as an assistant coach at UNO, then back to Iowa when McReynolds moved on creating an opening. I could see a similar path for Kate Martin.

Affolter is a big big asset to this team. She is feisty as all get out and seems to be in on almost all loose balls and rebounds. Love the way she plays
She just needs to start hitting 3s. If she did, she’d lock down that last starting spot and could be All B1G.

Ridiculous that Bluder couldn't get Clark any help after being National Runner up.

No one would complain if she had, but it has been reported numerous times by the administrators here that there were only two good options in the transfer portal and both of them rejected Iowa. One wanted to stay on the West Coast and the other got $100K in NIL money from LSU.
