Already seeing posts of missing persons in the Tahoe area. One is a guy who works at a local resort and thought to get a few turns in yesterday during the blizzard. Haven’t seen him since.
5 feet of power looks cool in Warren Miller movies but it’s deadly for us mortals.

That changed last week. We’ve had 2 weeks of nonstop snow.
Started while Iowa was 70 degrees in December.

One of my Uncles almost froze to death in over three feet of powder one year In Michigan. He was snow shoeing and fell. He struggled and fought to get back upright, but was unsuccessful.
He was only about 1/4 mile from home and after over an hour struggle was able to get to a plowed road.

Even with an floatation pack five feet and an avalanche will get you. I hope they find him, but the odds aren’t great.

I saw something a little while ago about someone being killed by an avalanche in Colorado. I think it said west of Ft Collins.
