Still tickets left both home games, comeon Hawk fans

Reminds me of football season.

I'm not sure if it's the economy, prices or game environment. Or maybe all three?

It's not just at Iowa. If you watch any college basketball on TV you will see half empty (or more) arenas for power 5 teams. Part of this is just the technological advances in broadcasting these events. You have only to watch videos of games played a few years ago to see how much better the contest is now being televised. Television stations are paying conferences big money to cover the games but in some ways, they are killing the live experience. They have made it so much easier to watch from the comfort of your home on your big TV and actually view the contest from a much more advantageous perspective.

That said, there is always something to be said for experiencing the event first hand and it is not like the Hawks are playing to an empty arena. There are a lot of schools that would give anything to get the crowds Iowa draws.

Douche bag strikes again.
Says the guy who always makes a big deal when he buys a ticket to one of the occasional games he attends, then proceeds to call out other fans for not being the Superfan he is. Otherwise you rarely hear a peep out of him.

Did this during football season, too.

It's unreal there are still tickets available for senior night even if you played Rutgers. We could only get tickets for two Iowa State games in the first minutes they were available to the general public in October I think it was and one of them was a non conference game. I'm glad the game will be in Iowa City next year as the last time or the time before that I just walked up at bought tickets at the window on game night.

Want to go but the weeknight games from Des Moines are a killer. The only decent time for those of us in Des Moines are 7 pm but you never get those any more. Getting back around 1230 and then working the next day sucks. And I'm poor right now. Also doesn't help.

I love it for pregame festivies but ride home is brutal. Hope can get a few more to make it we are going to rock Carver!

Want to sell out? Go to black outs. Seriously. Too easy to stay away for those that really are not into it. No broadcast available in eastern Iowa unless u have a 90% sell.

As Ronman mentioned, technology had made it too easy on fans. For the price of two season tickets, parking passes and gas, you can own a 65" HD TV and watch nearly every game while drinking on your favorite adult beverage. Many do this and then lambast the fans who do attend because they did not cheer loud enough.

It depends on who you are a fan of.I am going to be 72 years old ,live 3 hours from Bloomington but I have driven to many 9 pm games at IU. Also paid outrageous price for tickets on Stub Hub.One time I piled 2 dogs in my van , walked them in Bloomington before the game ,and left them in their crates for a couple hours in the van, then drove to Ft.Wayne arriving about 2:30 a.m. No big deal. I have also driven to Ann Arbor and East Lansing to see IU play-both are closer to Ft.Wayne than Bloomington. The only problem was that I forgot where I parked in east lansing and it took 2 hours to find my car- but IU won the game-only time in last 17 years at East Lansing.

You are fos about everything you just said. Hilton has had a lot of empty seats recently and the only tickets you walked up and bought last year were from a scalper.

You sir are a die hard iu fan

I'll support this team ... from the confines of my home in Des Moines ... If I lived in or around Iowa City I would be more inclined to take in a game or two at Carver ... Making basketball games is not easy for me ... Means either leaving work early ... or getting home way too late ... But just because I am not there in person doesn't mean I won't be yelling my head off from home ...

I wish we could stop with calling fans out by telling them what they need to do (i.e. you are only truly supporting the team if you are there in person) ... Not everyone lives in Iowa City ... or within a short drive ... Not everyone can make it over for weeknight games ... If "you" can attend in person then kudos to you ... If you can't attend in person ... well ... it doesn't mean you don't "support this team."

I wish there were more 6 pm games so I could come up and get back to the Quad Cities at a decent time during the week. I did get tickets about a month ago for the Iowa- Indiana game but can't get there for the Wisconsin game.

Wisconsin game is now down to scattered singles. I would think they would shortly be updating the website to be able to purchase the gen admission SRO seats above the student section. Having sat there, there are a significant number of those - it is four sections wide of the top 10-12 rows.

Indiana game is just the SRO.

There was good movement today, hopefully a sellout can be achieved!

Well said and I agree 100%. The worst ones are those that only show up for a couple of games, make a big deal about it (as if attending an occasional game makes them "better" than everyone else), then calls out those not attending that particular game.

Looks like they are running a bus for students through campus, great news, hopefully becomes a regular thing.

I'm calling BS on this one. If you're 72 and hard core you would have season tickets, not digging around on stub hub. Of course if you just occasionally take in a game and are retired then 3 hours is no big deal.

The Quad Cities are only an hour away.
