Stop! Adapting the freestyle step out rule in college is absurd. Y'all realize it makes the mat smaller, no scoring on the edge? We don't need a step out, just call stalling! Step out turns the edge into sumo wrestling.
Do u watch freestyle? Nothing like sumo. After 20 or so years of officials not calling stalling maybe it’s time to try something different. I’m no let’s go freestyle person but I think this rule would create more action. I’m all for adopting passivity over stalling with shot clock and step out from neutral.Stop! Freestyle needs to get rid of grounding. Dumbest rule ever. In danger of getting pushed out, just go to your knees. Idiocy.Do u watch freestyle? Nothing like sumo. No disagreement there.Freestyle needs to get rid of grounding. Dumbest rule ever. In danger of getting pushed out, just go to your knees. Idiocy.
How do you propose to get stalling called fairly every single match? The step out rule is a perfect solution for folk style as it is the same as stalling. I would assume with the name you use on this board that you would understand freestyle but I’m guessing maybe just a fanboy?Stop! Adapting the freestyle step out rule in college is absurd. I think the rules are fine as is if someone is in control. No need to stop action on the matFreestyle is one foot out for a point, they also blow the whistle on turns to re-start once one guy goes out at all. Folkstyle should be two feet out for a point which still gives guys that want to play the edge a chance to play their game and still fight with one foot out knowing the risk, while the other guy getting a takedown also doesn't lead to an automatic whistle if someone is still partially in the circle. Similar scoring system but different ways of interpreting the set of rules. I mean freestyle also awards 2-4 points sometimes for blasting someone out with a takedown going out of bounds that wouldn't count in folkstyle for anything because neither guy stays in the circle.
Spencer Lee agrees. That Japanese dude was an expert at back up to the edge, then glueing his knees to the ground and sliding.Freestyle needs to get rid of grounding. Dumbest rule ever. In danger of getting pushed out, just go to your knees. Idiocy.
The way it is now the first time you cause your opponent to step out, it’s a stall call. 2nd time it’s a point. It’s huge for late in a match with short time remaining. As it stands now if the score is tied, or the aggressor is down by one, a guy can be tactically unaggressive or non-competitive and it doesn’t hurt him. He gets warned and precious seconds tick off the clock. With a step out his whole mindset must change or he’s going to get beat by a more active wrestler.Stop! I would LOVE the addition of a step out rule in D-1.
Not having a stall warning and just having it be a point immediately and then 2 points the next time would also do wonders. Of course the refs still need to call it and that seems to be the rub.Do u watch freestyle? Nothing like sumo. It was disgusting to watch. Plus the effort these guys expend trying to pick them up before the pushout attempt.Spencer Lee agrees. That Japanese dude was an expert at back up to the edge, then glueing his knees to the ground and sliding.
Chess not checkers lolgood way to stop the talk, start a thread about it
I will stop. I'm sorry for talking about it.
I disagree. That leads to scoring on the edge. No step out rule leads to a lot of restarts in center of mat and less scoring overall. (How does adding another way to score LESSEN scoring?)Stop! True.... @el dub is operating on another level here.I disagree. That leads to scoring on the edge. No step out rule leads to a lot of restarts in center of mat and less scoring overall. (How does adding another way to score LESSEN scoring?)
Wrestle in a cage and there is no OB.
