CRYIN Illini Grades OFFICIAL, undisputed

Parco was the only one that surprised me. The rest of the Hawks who won their matches wrestled very smart in my opinion against very respectable opponents. I wanted to see Parco open up, but I reflect back to Brandon Sorensen. If Parco keeps them close and wins with great defense like BS did then I’m good.
Illinois was doing anything to keep things close and they were coached to do so, how many shots did they take the entire match. Parco had some difficulty with Websters length but Webster did not make one attempt at offensive until the last 10 sec and usually he has a high attack rate.
Parco could have done more and was clearly frustrated at the end of the match. Look what Illinois did at 174 and 197 the only thing these guys wanted to do is keep it close to save face, at least teams like Army and Stanford came to wrestle!

And that is why I want him to get on his offense against Mess when they meet. He has to set aside some of that respect for Mess’ talent and go after him. Love Caliendo!!
The thing with MM is he is so high octane that it puts Cali in a defensive mode which is not his style and takes him out of his game. I know Cali is smart and will game plan. Almost all PSU matches are going to be great but Cali vs MM is going to be must see.

I was watching on BTN Friday night and couldn't help but notice a LOT of empty seats at Carver. Any ideas as to why? Seems like a Friday night dual, televised, good weather, neighboring state team, etc. the place would be packed.

Even the commentators mentioned the lack of attendance and atmosphere. Any insight?

Were you unable to attend in person?

Students are gone and don't fill their allotment so that end is always light. The sides were pretty packed. Guessing 12k or so butts in seat.

It's also very hard for most high school wrestlers and wrestling coaches to make it to a Friday night dual, unless they live pretty close to Iowa City. My son and his girlfriend used our tickets but as a coach on the western side of the state I can't make Friday night duals.

Cruz
Ayala
Parco
Estrada
Teemer
Caliendo
Kennedy
Arnold
Buchanan
Keuter

Maybe just a dream but if viable only leaves Cruz as a weak spot. And Cruz is gaining ground it seems. Estrada looking very tough.
Is there any indication at all that Parco can make 141? It's been 4 years since he was at that weight, and by the end of that year, he moved up to 149 bythe end of the season for the Big 12's and NCAAs. This seems like a fever dream.

LOL. i didn't pick up that he was trying to move Parco down.

We can end this discussion with immediacy. Parco CANNOT make 141. I mean, i guess he could, but it wouldn't be pretty.

Yeah, that jumped out at me right away. Parco down a weight where he hasn't been for years to make room for Estrada, who just had a nice win no doubt but isn't exactly the second coming of Spencer or Stieber? For what? To endure a ridiculous cut so that he can move into a weight where Mendez and Alirez are lurking just so a mid-level prospect true frosh can maybe qualify for NCAAs? None of that made any sense to me.

1st off- I think the OP did a very fair job stepping in for SIR IRON which is NOT EZ!!!! AND NO he is not my mom, wife, etc......

Without doing a full right up I had it

125 CRUZ 85
133 AYALA 100
141 BLOCK 80
149 PARCO 88
157 ESTRADA 96 ( can he make 149 NEXT year?)
165 CALIENDO 99
174 KENNEDY 83
184 ARNOLD 91
197 BUCHANAN 95
KRUETER AH CRAP!!!!!

For those talking about KRUETER--- LISTEN, it is getting really REALLY frustrating to watch as it "appears" that every other kid in a situation like his, attending OTHER skools, seems to get REAL BIG REAL FAST and at IOWA, not sooooo much!!!!

I am just NOT getting it, the kid needed to, needs TWOOOOO ADD at least 40-50 pound of MUSCLE PERIOD!!!! That is for either or football/wrestling and it IS that simple!!!! IF he was a full 275(or at least close to it) he is in the conversation for a TITLE!!! His 6-4 frame and body weight of what????? 230 or so????? Makes him look like a beanstalk!!!
