CRYIN Illini Grades OFFICIAL, undisputed

There’s a common denominator with our heavyweights in the last # years. Their coached by a certain heavyweight that liked to wrestle one point matches all the time. That certain coach had one of the best double legs a heavyweight ever had, but would never pull the trigger. Who does Ben have to work at in the room that will push his lungs like they need to be pushed?
I would think Warner and Buchanan rate well enough to blow his lungs out.

You'd like to see Kueter move around more considering how athletic he is. Instead he is just staying square and conventional.

Keuter’s legs are so skinny for a Heavy. Looks like Truax out there. Obviously his world title shows he’s got a ton of talent, but he’s got to add some bulk
He definitely does have the look of someone that skips leg day rather often….However, I am sure that is more about his body type and genetics. Legs can be very hard to put on size for the more “long and lanky” body types. But, he has definitely shown he has the speed and explosiveness in them to get in deep with his attacks. If anything, he needs the lower back strength to be able to lift and finish once stopped underneath. That, or get to angles like has already been mentioned….

More wishful thinking than anything. He just looks so much smaller than some of these guys
That’s the problem with Heavyweight. If you aren’t 265, you are outweighed and outmuscled. Doesn’t matter how good you are if you are giving up 25 lbs of weight/ muscle. Snyder did it, but didn’t wrestle much that year, and he was a senior, and that was along time ago. Dreyshaun has to see that and knows he’s not getting past 240. Not much room in collegiate wrestling for guys between 210 and 240.

Agree, has to change how he wrestles. Current method works on guys his size. Unfortunately, adapting styles isn’t a forte of our coaches.

Cruz
Ayala
Parco
Estrada
Teemer
Caliendo
Kennedy
Arnold
Buchanan
Keuter

Maybe just a dream but if viable only leaves Cruz as a weak spot. And Cruz is gaining ground it seems. Estrada looking very tough.

Estrada starting to look like an AA sooner than later. Technique, tank, strength and will.
I like him!

The end of BK's match last night he did show a lot of power. He picks up the Illini heavy from Ben's knees and drops him on his side (but still didn't finish the blast double for a takedown). That takes a lot of strength when your opponent is hipping back against you and weighs 260 plus. BK needs to cut corners and ankle pick early in matches to build a lead, then use his athleticism to counter guys when they have to score to catch up late in matchs. As others have said, everything is blast doubles and single legs straight on currently. That worked in highschool, but won't against the best heavies in college.

Which is really weird, because once you get a heavy to his hip, or flat on his butt, the takedown is almost always a sure thing. It shows how much more athletic some of these current heavys are.

But, that doesn’t mean a blast double isn’t a good move at this weight. In many cases it is s one of the best. Kerkvliet is very good at a similar type double and finish. Still, he is also great at creating angles. A mixture of both would definitely be huge. You just can’t get stymied underneath without getting the opponent seated…

Let me know when Estrada beats someone good. Currently he is our 4th string 49 if everyone is healthy. I’m not putting him down but he hasn’t beat anyone.

Wrestling hvy at 235 is like Drake Ayala wrestling Gabe Arnold.

If he was just wrestling he'd put on weight, not lose it. If he was playing d-line he'd gain weight, not lose it. It's playing LB that keeps him from bulking up too much at this point.
If BK really wants to be in the NFL , hee needs to be in the 235-260 range minimum, big enough to put a hand in the ground when needed and still quick enough to be a LB.
